The safety of our students and staff is always on my mind. Following the tragic event that happened in Florida last week, I would like to ask you for your continued partnership to keep our students and staff safe. If you happen to see warning signs on social media or overhear conversations, please let me know. We ask you to monitor your child’s social media usage. Tell them that if they see something concerning online or hear someone making comments to notify an adult so the proper action can be taken. Anything that threatens anyone’s safety should be reported to law enforcement. It is also important that students know the serious nature of making threats to school safety. There are significant consequences for starting or spreading rumors that threaten the safety of our school. As always, we appreciate your support.

The Merton Theater Company will be hosting a Merton only Mardi Gras themed dance for all Intermediate School students. The cost is $5 dollars at the door, with beads and concessions available for sale. We hope to see many of you there!

All 7th and 8th Grade students who meet the GPA criteria of a 3.5 cumulative GPA as of Quarter 2 and all 6th graders who meet a GPA of 3.5 as of trimester 1 will be mailed a letter within the week inviting them to apply to NJHS for the Spring of 2018. Families interested in their student joining NJHS should plan on attending a mandatory parent and student meeting on Tuesday, February 27 from 6:45-7:30 in the Intermediate School Little Theater. Should students be accepted into NJHS, the Induction Ceremony takes place on Thursday, April 12 at 2:00pm in the Intermediate School Gym. Inductees into NJHS must be in attendance at the Induction Ceremony.

Even if you are not attending Trivia Night, you can bid on the awesome auction items. We are using HANDBID, a mobile platform that will allow you to bid from your smartphone or other device that can be connected to the internet.

We recommend that you download the app now and REGISTER! You can preview our fabulous items and learn how to navigate through the site!

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE HANDBID APP

If you have an iPhone or Android, you can download the Handbid app from the Apple iTunes App Store or the Google Play store.

Please note we recommend you “Accept notifications from this app” when you open it and join an auction. This will allow you to get push notifications for “Outbid” messages during the auction.

STEP 2: TAP GET STARTED & CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT

Next you can create an account. From the App home screen, tap on the “GET STARTED” button and complete the information (please use your cell phone as the phone number). Tap NEXT

Handbid will text you a 5 digit code. Enter this code to log in.

STEP 3: SELECT AUCTION FROM LIST & START BIDDING

Type in MERTON TRIVIA NIGHT 2018 in the name/organization search area and tap ours. Once in the auction, swipe left/right to access categories and up/down to access items.

The Student Senate is hosting a carnival for our 4K-4th grade friends at the Primary School. There is a training for the workers from 4-5PM on Wednesday, February 28th. All workers who have signed up are expected to attend.

It is that time of year to plan and prepare for the 2019 DC/Gettysburg 8th grade class Trip! The dates for the trip will be June 6 - 9, 2019. There is a parent informational meeting in the Little Theater on March 7th, 2018 at 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there!!
