Message from East Hill Principal
Dear East Hill Elementary School Families,
We had a short week but it was full of learning and fun at East Hill!
We started the week on Tuesday with a kickoff to our PARP program. Our EH school community gathered in the gym to celebrate reading and our guest author. Thank you to our PTA for sponsoring the visit of author, Bruce Coville on Thursday. Mr. Coville met with all grade levels and talked to our students about becoming an author and writing his books. Our PARP celebration runs until Friday, October 20th. Our goal is to read 1800 books, and we are well on our way!
Next week, attendance letters will be sent out district wide. These letters are sent to families of children who have missed more than 11% of school. These letters are a requirement of the state and are sent to students who were absent regardless of the cause of the absence. Of course we understand that some students are too ill to attend school. Attendance is critical. Students must be in school to learn.
Keep reading Wildcats!
~Susan
Congratulations to this week's Wildcat WOW prize winners!

Notes from the PTA
Our Scholastic book fair was a success! The kids had a blast creating their wishlists on Wednesday and while we were open for in-person shopping Wednesday and Thursday nights, click here for online shopping - available until 10/22! Sales from the book fair are how we fund and fill our Book Vending Machine, so that every student gets to pick a brand new book on their birthday— your purchases mean so much to us!
Our 3rd annual Pumpkin Walk is next Thursday, 10/19! Drop off your carved pumpkins on 10/17 and 10/18 at the gym entrance- volunteers will be there to take them off your hands. Then come back on 10/19 and walk our pumpkin trail! Costumes encouraged! (We are still looking for volunteers to make this a success- let us know if you can help!)
Every year the East Hill PTA creates classroom directories for our families. Each student will get a copy for their grade level. These directories can be used for families to contact each other to coordinate play dates, birthday parties, etc. The information gathered is used for social purposes and not used for solicitation of any kind.
If you would like your information to be included in the directory please fill out this questionnaire by Monday, October 16th. If you’d prefer a paper copy please email us at wgehpta@westgenesee.org with your student’s name(s) and teacher(s) and we will send one home with them. Additionally, there will be paper copies in the main office of the school for you to pick up.
There is still time to join the PTA! Membership does not commit you to volunteering at any events or attending meetings. It's truly the easiest way to support the programs that have a direct benefit to your child! It’s also a great way to be able to go to the classroom parties! Click here to join!
Please join our Facebook page, so you have the most up to date information on events and volunteer opportunities!
Our next meeting is on 11/15 at 6 pm in the East Hill library. We’d love to see you!
As always, email us with any questions you have or if you would like to volunteer at any of our events: wgehpta@westgenesee.org
