Barber Bulletin
Parents,
As principal of this school, I want to publicly thank our PTO board and PTO members for their continued support of our school. These PTO parents are such advocates for our students and for Pontiac Elementary.
Most recently, PTO provided a generous donation to our school in order to provide additional Spring field studies for our students. Teachers will be able to schedule an additional field experience for students that is congruent with their grade level content standards. Field studies enrich and enhance instruction.
Additionally, following the events around school safety recently, a few of our PTO board members met directly with our school district superintendent, Dr. Baron Davis and advocated on our school's behalf around our physical building and safety structures that can be enhanced. As a follow up to this conversation, the PTO agreed to allocate funds to fill the contents of a "Grab N Go" bag for every classroom in the event of an emergency on site that would require us to evacuate the building. We are so appreciative that PTO recognizes the importance of school safety and is willing to fund such initiatives for us.
Our PTO has done a great job of building community support and engaging our families!
We had over 150 families join us for the Daddy Daughter PTO dance!
We have almost 120 participants signed up to attend our Mother Son PTO bowling event on Friday evening!
Please show your support to our PTO during the upcoming MARBLE SLAB fundraiser that will kick off after Spring Break!
Thank you for encouraging your child to participate in this fundraiser.
PTO funds raised continue to benefit and support our students and teachers.
If you are interested in becoming more involved with PTO, please plan to attend our next meeting, April 10 at 6:30pm in our school media center.

Richland School District Two is pleased to offer band, string, and choral instruction to 6th grade students. Music teachers from the middle schools recently visited Pontiac and gave an orientation session for the 5th graders. No previous musical instruction is required to sign up for the classes. Mission Statement
The Community and Action Team hope that you and your family have discussed your vision, plan, or goal for your family. Below are the next steps for creating the Mission Statement.
Creating a Mission statement
After defining the outcome, next is to create a family mission statement. In order to do this, figure out what is most important to your family by answering these seven questions:
- What is the purpose of our family?
- What kinds of things do we want to do?
- What kind of feeling do we want to have in our home?
- What kind of relationships do we want to have with one another?
- What are our family’s priorities?
- What are our responsibilities as family members?
- How can we contribute to society as a family and become more service-oriented?
Give your children the opportunity to express their feelings of what they think is important to your family. Mission statements do not need to be long or formal, they just need to represent what is important to you and your family. Don’t try to rush this process. This may take a few months! Make sure that your family feels that the mission statement clearly represents what is important to everyone.
IT'S SPRING PORTRAIT TIME!
Strawbridge Studios will be at Pontiac on Friday, March 16 to photograph our students for Spring Portraits. Individual notices of picture day are being sent home in your child's folder.
This not a pre-pay program, you do not have to fill out any order forms or send any money at this time. All studednts will be photographed.
Portraits will be sent home once Strawbridge returns them to the school. You will have a choice to purchase the packet or partial packet at that time.
Health Room Donations
Parents,
This has been a difficult cold and flu season with a lot of illness. With that, comes a lot of cleaning going on and as a result our supplies have dwindled. The health room would be very appreciative of any donations of Lysol spray, Clorox wipes and Kleenex! We want to be PROACTIVE in the fight against germs!
Thank you,
Nurse Larck
