2 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Parents/Guardians: We need just 2 volunteers to help retrieve students from their classrooms and in our "Waiting Area" for our annual Seal-a-Smile dental visit on Monday morning from 8:45 - 11:00 am. Please email Mrs. Busch or call the Winkler Office at 262-539-2726 if interested.

GLOBAL LEARNING

Miss Choitz lead her 4th-grade class in a Zoom call with her parents in Zambia, Africa. They shared what school life is like for students there as well as some of the great things they have encountered in nearby parks. Students asked some thoughtful questions and truly enjoyed the learning experience.

Math 24

Three of our Winkler students, Lillian, CJ, and Ellie were able to compete in our BASD Math 24 Competition at Waller School on Thursday. Congratulations to former Winkler student, Kara L., for winning the BASD Math 24 competition.

Artsonia

Hey families! Your artists have been hard at work creating masterpieces! Each week I do my best to upload new work on Artsonia and, just to toot their horn... their winter art will blow you away! At the end of the month, there will be some new gift shop sales. Friendly reminder that 20% of anything purchased comes right back into the art room so we can keep creating beautiful art!

PTO News

The Winkler PTO would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped with our Butter Braid/Cookie Dough Fundraiser in November/December. We did over $5000 in sales and 299 items sold. This means the PTO was able to collect $2,078 in fundraising profit. These funds will go towards our future events such as our 3rd annual Neon Nights School Dance on March 10th. Thanks again for your support!

Also Don't forget our next event is Traxside Skate Night next Thursday, Jan 26th.

Yearbook Orders

Yearbooks will be on sale from January 2nd to February 3rd. Each yearbook is $15.00. Order forms were sent home on Monday, January 2nd.

Open Enrollment

Families seeking to Open Enroll a student into the Burlington Area School District can apply online starting Monday, February 6. This DPI Website has information and applications.

Open Enrollment allows students who live in another school district to attend BASD. BASD has a lot to offer students: Full-day 4K, Before/After-school Care, updated and secure schools including a new middle school, the new Wisconsin Connect Charter School for remote learning, a Montessori option, STEM, and more. It is a great time to attend a BASD school!

What is Open Enrollment?

The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.

Who can apply?

Any Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program. However, a child may transfer to a nonresident school district for early childhood education or 4K only if the child’s resident school district offers the same type of program and only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district.

When can parents apply?

The regular open enrollment application period for the 2023-24 school year begins on February 6, 2023, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 28, 2023. The best way to apply is online (a link to the online application is at the top of this page during the application period). Additional information on the regular open enrollment application season can be found on our applications page.

4K/5K ENROLLMENT BEGINS

Children who will be age 4 by September 1, 2023, may now enroll for full-day and half-day 4K in the Burlington Area School District. The enrollment process begins by creating an account for the new student in Skyward (link). Families will need to show proof of age (birth certificate) and proof of residency.

5K families - not currently enrolled in BASD 4K - may also enroll now.

SAVE THE DATE: PRE SCHOOL SCREENING

The date for the next 4K Screening is Wednesday, March 1, 2023. This screening will be held at the District Office from 830 am - 4:00 pm. Please call the District Office at 262-763-0210 for an appointment or questions.

NO 4K on March 1st

Mark your calendars! There will be NO SCHOOL for 4K on Wednesday, March 1. This is so our 4K teachers can assist with the annual 4K screening to welcome the Class of 2037.
