PACK Guardians,

There is SO MUCH going on at Hubbard. Check out the updates below to stay in the know!

Teacher of the Year - I am thrilled to announce that Mr. Jody Cowart in 7th grade math is this year's Hubbard Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Canfield and Mr. Havard had the exact same number of votes for second place, but Cowart edged them out by just a few extra votes.

Cheer Tryouts! - I know that many of you 6th and 7th grade guardians are excited to get our official Cheer Information! This year a couple things have changed and we want to make sure we have impeccable communication regarding the process, expectations, etc. Please click the link to access all the information including important upcoming dates.

Guardian Informational Meeting - Thursday, February 8th @ 5:30pm in the cafeteria. We will have printed copies of the informational packet at the meeting.

Signed pages due - Friday, February 16th to Gillian Turner by the end of the day

Notification of any ineligibility - Monday, February 26th

Cheer Clinic Week - March 4-8th (Mock tryouts are on Thursday and are CLOSED tryouts)

Official Tryouts - Friday, March 8th during school. Results posted to the website by 5p.m.

Tyler ISD Transfers - Is your child at Hubbard on a transfer? You MUST fill out a transfer request form even if they have previously been accepted. The transfer window opens on February 1st and this is the official Tyler ISD Transfer Request form. We will have them printed in the front office.

Feb 1- First day to apply for transfers

March 1- Last day to submit transfer request form. All transfer requests must be submitted by March 1st to be considered.

April 1- Notification of transfer approval/denial

Panorama Survey - Coming up in February, our PACK students will be taking the annual "Panorama Survey" at Hubbard. This is a survey that helps our campus and teachers gain a valuable understanding of their classrooms through the perspective of a student in areas such as engagement, rigor, etc.. Student responses are completely anonymous! If you DO NOT want your child to take part in this then please see this opt out letter or the Spanish version.

Spinal Screenings - Nurse Olivares has drafted this notification letter regarding upcoming spinal screenings for students. Please read the letter and call Nurse Eleanor Olivares at (903)262-1567 if you have any questions.

Baseball/Softball - Is your 8th grade student interested in baseball/softball at Tyler Legacy for next year? Have them see Coach Morrow in A16! You can e-mail him at matthew.morrow@tylerisd.org with any questions.

i-Ready/Edugence - If you would like instructions on how to access your student's i-Ready and edugence information, please use this handout that we created! It is also on the Hubbard website under "parent resources."

Hubbard PTA spirit gear - Keep scrolling to see a pic of what is for sale on the PTA website. We will be kicking off some Hubbard Spirit Gear days in the near future so get yours now!

EARBUDS - Students need WIRED headphones for their chromebook usage, not bluetooth earbuds. When students are using earbuds we don't know what they are connected to and what they are listening to. When we can physically see the wire going to their chromebook, we KNOW what they are doing. Thank you for understanding this.

This week the Tyler ISD grant patrol visited campuses and handed out their annual "Grants for Great Ideas" funds. Shoutout to Susan McElroy for being a grant recipient!

Shoutout to Hubbard PTA President, Kelly Youngblood, and the PTA supporters who provided the chex/trail mix treat to the teachers today!

This past 9 weeks the 6th grade "Kappa" House earned the most liveschools points and was rewarded with an ice cream party. If you don't know what Liveschools is, ask your student!

Thank you to everyone who showed up on Wednesday night and enjoyed a Taco while also supporting Hubbard MS!

Mr. Pino has started a new TGIF initiative in the Media Center at Hubbard that included a NO TECHNOLOGY break! Although we can harness the power of technology, sometimes it helps to take a break from screens!

This week, Mrs. Studinka (UIL coordinator), met with all student signed up for UIL. Our goal is to MASH the competition and show them that Hubbard is the best middle school in Tyler ISD!

Thank you to the staff and members of Church of the Pines for supporting our campus and providing our monthly birthday cake!

This week, som 6th grade classes enjoyed reviewing informational text while playing "Trashketball." We love that our teachers put effort into making learning fun!

The Tin Can Cafe kids were back at it this week making some delicious burrito bowls for our staff! They were delicious and the kids enjoyed creating them.

This week, Vexus Fiber Optics made a huge donation to Hubbard Middle School to help further provide clothing and food for our Husky students! We are so appreciative of the people that partner with us to provide for our PACK! As a reminder, if you are in need of food/clothing, please use the links below to reach out to our counselors.

On February 17th, from 10-2 the Discovery Science Place will be hosting their annual STEM Like a Girl event for middle school aged girls (6th-8th grade). They will have multiple speakers from local women who are in the STEM fields giving demonstrations, experiments, and activities for the girls to show them what types of career options they can pursue!
