District Report Card
Dear Families:
Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card. Just as your child’s report card shows how they are doing in different subjects, the school’s report card is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas.
The report card includes multiple measures of a school’s performance – more than just MCAS scores. It represents a new way of looking at school performance, by providing information on student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more.
Report cards are designed to be useful tools for everyone connected to our school. Families can use the information to have meaningful conversations with us about what the school is doing well and where there is room for improvement. Community and education leaders can use the information to better understand how to support students and our school. We encourage you to become involved in helping us improve our school. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for your continued support.
Finally, if your child attends a school that receives federal Title I funds, you also have the right to request the following information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers:
Whether your child’s teacher is licensed in the grade levels and subject areas they teach,
Whether your child’s teacher is teaching under an emergency license or waiver,
The college degree and major of your child’s teacher, and
Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
If you have questions about our school’s report card, would like to become involved in school improvement activities, or would like to request information about the qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher, please contact me.

Volleyball Community Project
Hello families of Mendon and Upton! Below is a picture of members of the 2023 Miscoe Hill volleyball team. These teammates are embarking on a full year project to sustain and strengthen volleyball at Miscoe Hill Middle School and for the youth of our communities.
Another part of their project is to give back to our community. On February 16th, during the last period of the day, they will take their perfect season record and challenge the faculty at our school. Not only will this be a great send off before February vacation, but there will be a collection for the Mendon Food Pantry. They will be collecting nonperishable food items and toiletries for people in need. They hope that students, families, and faculty will help with this endeavor.
This week, starting Monday, February 12th, to Thursday, February 15th, students can bring in their donations for the Mendon Food Pantry. The members of the girls volleyball team wanted to make this collection a friendly competition between all home rooms. The homeroom with the most donations will receive an ice cream sundae social in the spring. All they have to do is give their donations to their homeroom teacher by Thursday, and the team will select the homeroom with the biggest donation on Friday. The winner will be announced Friday during the volleyball game.
Items Needed:

Inspired Learning Day
Inspired Learning Day was a huge hit! Both students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed taking a break from their regular schedule to explore different learning opportunities. We were able to bring Portrait of a Learner to life through these inspiring activities.
Inspired Learning Day's success lies in its ability to empower students, encouraging them to take an active role in their learning journey and fostering a sense of curiosity and passion for lifelong learning.

Ski Club Shout-Out
What an epic ski season it has been, and we owe it all to our dedicated ski coordinator and our fantastic chaperones!
From the first exhilarating run down the slopes to the final triumphant descent, our ski club has truly embraced the spirit of adventure, camaraderie, and, of course, the love of skiing/ snowboarding. Each turn down the mountain was a testament to the passion and dedication of our incredible members.
A massive round of applause and heartfelt gratitude to our outstanding ski coordinator, Sue Allen! Your hard work, meticulous planning, and infectious enthusiasm were the driving forces behind the success of this season. You navigated the snowy terrain like a pro, ensuring every member had a memorable and safe experience on the slopes.
To our extraordinary chaperones, THANK YOU! Your commitment to the well-being and enjoyment of our members did not go unnoticed. Whether it was providing guidance on the best runs, helping with equipment, or simply spreading good vibes, you played a crucial role in making this season a hit.
