Parent Help Needed for the Region Audition at Briarhill MS

We have the unique opportunity to host an audition at Briarhill. This means that the students will audition in a familiar setting! To make this audition work, we need SEVERAL parent volunteers!



We need parent help from 4:00pm-9:30pm on Wednesday, October 25. We need at least 25 volunteers. We welcome 6th-8th grade parents to help!

Congratulations to the Marcus High School Band!!

The Marcus Band was named GRAND CHAMPION in the Birdville Marching Festival on Saturday, October 14!


We are excited for them as they continue through their 2017 Competition Season!


It was AWESOME to see so many Briarhill Alumni succeeding in the Marcus Band on Saturday!


We love the Marcus Band!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fundraiser! A special thank you to all the parents who helped with the Pansy delivery on Saturday!

Practicing at Home

All 6th grade band students should be taking their instruments home on a daily basis now.


You should be hearing and seeing some form of practicing each night.


We are building muscles and the only way to ensure that they are being built correctly is through repetitions. The faster and stronger these muscles get built, the sooner we are able to learn Winter Concert music!

District Audition Times

District Band Audition Times


Students need to arrive 30 minutes prior to their time to adequately warm up, find their audition room and relax prior to their audition.


The actual audition will only last approximately 10-15 minutes and students are free to leave once the audition is complete.


We tried to accommodate as many time requests as possible while staying within our allotted time provided by the contest host.

Event Information

District Band Auditions

The District Band is an All-Star band comprised of some of the best middle school musicians from Lewisville ISD. Students have been learning scales, etudes, and sight-reading skills to perform at this audition.


Making the District Band is a HUGE honor!!


Students will need to arrive at Arbor Creek 30 minutes prior to their audition time.


Students will warm-up in the gym. We will send home room assignments once they are released to us.

This audition is for the following instruments:

  • Oboe
  • Bassoon
  • Bass Clarinet
  • Tenor Saxophone
  • Bari Saxophone
  • Euphonium
  • Tuba


Once audition times and rooms are released, we will send that information home.


Just like District Auditions, students will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time and they will warm up in the gym.

Practicing at Home

Students should be taking their instruments home on a daily basis. You should hear and see some form of practicing every day.


Students have MANY things to practice at home!


  • District/Region Music
  • Scales
  • Sight-Reading
  • Winter Concert Music
  • Daily Fundamentals and Tonal Studies
  • Instrument Specific Exercises - lip slurs, harmonics, octaves, register slurs, etc
  • Private Lesson Music



Habits are formed through repetitions. Students will not get the needed repetitions to form good habits in class alone.

Practice Report Due Tomorrow!

Practice Reports are due every Monday.


Practice Reports may be turned in Tuesday for 10 points off. They will NOT be accepted past Tuesday.
