Another wonderful week has come and gone. Thank you all for your support and participation in International Dot Day last Friday. It was a huge success. We really enjoyed being together in the gym to enjoy a shared read-aloud of the book Dot Day. Teachers took turns reading while the book was displayed on the large screen. We're looking forward to our Wear Black and Orange spirit day on

October 27th.

Students had their first inside recess on Monday, due to the rain. They played games and did puzzles and artwork in their classrooms. Fortunately, the rest of the week was beautiful and we were able to run and play outside.

Everyone has settled into the reality of school and they are working hard. I was able to visit several classes and see teaching and learning in action. In our K-2 wing, students have completed their introductory UFLI, an explicit and systematic program that teaches students the foundational skills necessary for proficient reading, through activities. In our 3-5 wing, students have been busy writing personal narratives or realistic fiction. We are delving into our studies almost like we've never left!

Today 3rd-5th grade students took the first field trip of the year. I'm looking forward to sharing stories from the trip in next week's log.

If you haven't already, please be sure to update your annual information in Infinite Campus right away. Students cannot go on upcoming field trips without the online permission, and we need to have the correct contact information in case of emergency or child illness at school. Activation and instructions were emailed to primary parent/guardian August 28th.

On Wednesday mornings from 8:20AM-9:20AM at PES (parents provide transportation), from October 11th through December 6th (skip Nov 22) Mad Science is offering Energize It! a 1-hour 8 week class for K-5 students, cost: $105. We need a minimum of 10 students to provide the program, and half and full scholarships are available if you contact Mrs. Gorsuch-Plummer or Mrs. Doran by September 22nd.

Soggy dog designs returns for picture day Thursday,

September 28th, starting at 8:45AM (rain date: September 29th). This year, they are shifting to an online ordering process. Please see the information sheet in today's Thursday folder for details.
