Book Talk @ The Brooklyn Museum
The renowned Brooklyn Museum hosts authors Kiini Ibura Salaam (Ancient, Ancient, 2013) and Bridgett M. Davis (Into the Go-Slow, Fall 2014) reading from new work, followed by Author Tayari Jones (Silver Sparrow) leading a talk on how themes in the authors' fiction relate to Wangechi Mutu's art.

Bridgett M. Davis
Bridgett M. Davis is a writer, teacher, and filmmaker. Her novel, Into The Go-Slow, will be published by Feminist Press in Fall 2014. Her debut novel, Shifting Through Neutral, was short-listed for the 2005 Zora Neale Hurston/Richard Wright Legacy Award. Her award-winning feature film, Naked Acts, is part of the permanent collection at Indiana University's Black Film Center/Archive.

Tayari Jones
Tayari Jones' third novel, Silver Sparrow, was published in 2011 by Algonquin Books. The Village Voice wrote that “Tayari Jones is fast defining black middle class Atlanta the way that Cheever did for Westchester.” The American Booksellers chose Silver Sparrow as the #1 Indie Next pick for June 2011. Library Journal , O Magazine, Slate and Salon all selected the novel among the best of the year. Silver Sparrow was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and the 2013 IMPAC Dublin International Literary Award. Her next novel is slated for a 2015 release.

Kiini Ibura Salaam
Kiini Ibura Salaam is a writer, painter, and traveler from New Orleans, Louisiana. Her work is rooted in eroticism, speculative events, women's perspectives, and artistic freedom. Her collection Ancient, Ancient --winner of the 2012 James Tiptree Award--spins sensual tales of the fantastic, the dark, and the magical. She has archived her micro-essays on writing at www.kiiniibura.com.
