Liberty Park Elementary School Newsletter
Friday, February 12th
Dear Liberty Park Families,
This is a friendly reminder that there is no school on Monday for students and Tuesday is an eLearning day for staff professional development purposes. Students will access their classwork via Canvas/Seesaw and can reach out to their teacher between 9am – 12pm for additional support. We look forward to seeing students back on Wednesday. Student's mid-terms are available on the ParentVue App after 5 PM today.
In preparation for Tuesday, student devices & chargers are being sent home with all students today. Moving forward, devices will be sent home on a nightly basis with all students, providing additional educational technology access at home. iPads will continue to be monitored and updated as needed through the Warren Township Technology Office. As we prepare for devices to go home on a nightly basis, we need your help in making this a successful transition. Please be sure the following steps are taken each evening as you prepare your student for the next school day:
- Students should remain signed in to their Apple account
- iPad is fully charged (Chargers may remain at home and do not have to be returned to school each day)
- iPad & keyboard is cleaned on a daily basis and no food or drink near devices
- iPad & keyboard is placed in book bag each evening
We appreciate your support and help in preparing your student for success. Please feel free to reach out to your teacher for additional questions.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary! Take care, be safe, and have a great weekend!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks
National Kindness Week ~ LP Secret Kindness Missions
Although National Kindness Week is in February, students at Liberty Park have been acting as secret kindness agents all school year. They are spreading kindness throughout the building by completing secret missions assigned to them (from the district leaders...shhh). Ms. Tapper is their secret agent supervisor and these missions are top secret within their classroom. They must not blow their secret agent cover by getting caught completing these missions. We spread kindness because we are great people, not because we want recognition. *Note: students are allowed to share with parents as we do not keep secrets from our parents.
Missions have included but are not limited to:
- Create secret agent code names for classmates by describing what they love about each other and what makes each other unique and special
- Pick a specials teacher target, decorate an index card, write a kind message, and go as a class to place your cards in the target's mailbox
- Draw a puppy or write a favorite joke on a sticky note for the front office ladies and sneak as a class to place them on the office windows
- Decorate/write on a pumpkin gram a message of gratefulness to your bus driver or the guardian/parent that drives you to school every day.
- Create a secret agent code name for your team *class.* Then write a thank you note to your school cafeteria workers and place it on the windows within the cafeteria.
- Help celebrate National Kindness Week with us from February 14-20 by having conversations with students about what it means to be kind to others, ways to be kind, and how they are participating in our school kindness missions. Maybe complete some secret kindness missions of your own as a family!

Counseling Services
Mrs. Tapper, our school counselor, is available to support all of our Liberty Park students. A student may be referred to the school counselor by a parent/guardian, staff member or the student may refer themselves. Services provided by the school counselor through this referral process include individual and group counseling as well as informal check ins. Confidentiality is maintained at all times when meeting with the school counselor unless the child gives permission to share information or if the child says they are planning to hurt themselves, someone else or that someone has hurt them. It is the objective that all students will build healthy relationships and be successful at school. This occurs when students, families and the school are working together.
If you are interested in counseling services for your child, please click here for the link to complete the referral form for Mrs. Tapper. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Student iPad Safety & Repairs
We are excited to provide students with technology to enhance their learning experiences in the MSD of Warren Township. Each student K-4 is assigned an iPad for virtual and in-person classroom use. Students are responsible for the proper care and use of their device. Each device is covered by a district-sponsored insurance program for damage. This keeps charges for both intentional and accidental damages low. Both purposeful and accidental damage will be charged at a reduced rate.
Repair ~Family Charge
1st-$5
2nd-$25
3rd-$50
More than 3-The actual cost of repair or $50
How does the district ensure student safety with the use of student devices?
Warren Township employs a variety of methods to manage student devices including Internet filtering, and application restrictions. Internet Filtering software collects information about the sites that students access. Whether a use is off task or appropriate depends on the time of day, the student’s schedule, and the teacher’s instructions. If a student attempts to access an inappropriate site, a notification is generated and the filtering software blocks the viewing of that site. Students are also taught about appropriate use and care for their devices by their classroom teachers. Specific age-appropriate lessons have been created for use with all students.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
