Sunday Message
Week of January 30, 2023
Message from Mrs. Reams
Randolph Families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It's hard to believe it is February this week!
As we continue to strike a balance of safety and creating a welcoming environment in our schools, I wanted to thank you for having your license when visiting for lunch or volunteering in a classroom, displaying car tags at pick up, understanding that we do not allow drop in visitors during instructional time, and being patient during our sign in procedure for larger events. Our number one priority is keeping our school safe and we could not do this without our families! When you are visiting for lunch we ask that you do not go to the classroom before or after your lunch visit. Thank you for your help with this.
I am attaching our "TOP 10" for reminders of Randolph procedures as we have had many new families join us in January. Please familiarize yourself with our personal device protocol (watches, phones etc.). Phones are allowed to be brought to school. However, they are to remain "off and away" in backpacks. Watches are also allowed, however we ask that you refrain from texting or calling your child during the instructional day on any device they may bring to school. Your child will always be allowed to call you from our school office as needed.

REMINDERS AND IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Gifted and Talented News
How can students be referred for gifted screening?
A teacher or a parent may refer a child for gifted screening. If your child exhibits gifted behaviors and is performing above level, you or your child’s teachers may refer your child as a good candidate. The spring testing window opens February 1st and closes February 28th.
Go to Goochland County Schools Gifted Page. Here you will find the Gifted Referral Process and the Initial Referral Form. This form is due to Randolph Elementary by 3pm on February 28th.
Please contact egemmill@glnd.k12.va.us with questions.
Attention families of 4th & 5th grade Reading Olympians:
The GCPS Reading Olympics Tournament is scheduled for March 30th during school hours. Please continue to encourage your child to read from this selected book list and participate in the Reading Olympics module on Canvas. More information about the tournament will be going home soon. Thank you for your help!
We are collecting supplies for our "Spring into STEM" House Day in March. If you are interested in helping, please send in items like tape, cardboard boxes, and plastic cups for our STEM Supply Drive. Items can be placed next to the House boards by the library. Thank you! Please see the attached flyer for more information.
