Week of August 7-11 Parent Letter

What an amazing first week of school! It is great to have all our Mustang Scholars back to school. Our scholars got to know their teachers and reconnect with their friends at school. As our second week of school begins, I want to Thank You in advance for your continued support with ensuring your scholars are in school every day on on time. We want to maintain our 98% or better on attendance every day. Please ensure your scholar is in school on time by 7:30 am so they eat breakfast and be ready for instruction by 7:45 am. This week, our administrative team will begin monitoring any scholar who is Tardy or has had any absence this past week. Scholars will meet with administration and counselor for their tardies and receive detention if they have a pattern of tardies. If you bring your scholar at 7:45 or later, your scholar is considered tardy and you must park and come in to sign them in. Please help us minimize tardies this school year especially attendance. THERE IS NO MORE ACE OR WIN ACADEMY AT HD HILLEY. ALL SCHOLARS NEED TO BE PICKED UP BY OR BEFORE 3:30

WHEN AFTERSCHOOL TUTORING STARTS THE WEEK OF AUGUST 21, IT WILL BE ON TUESDAY AND THURSDAY FROM 3:30-4:30. TEACHERS WILL SEND A PERMISSION SLIP THE WEEK BEFORE.

Our new HD Hilley Spirit Shirts are on sale this week for only $15. We will be selling them before and afterschool. Come by the front office to purchase. Your scholar may wear it any day as part of their uniform. Celebrate with our staff our new theme shirt.

Parents, we highly encourage for you to sign up on Schoology. Friday, at our Meet the Teacher Night, we will have a table to support you. It will not take you long to create an account. Your teachers will still be communicating on Class Dojo as we start the school year. Eventually, Schoology will be the main platform for communication. I urge you to please keep close communication with your teachers as the year starts. Your teacher wants success for your child. Your support and awareness of their learning progress is key to their success. Thank you in advance for your amazing support.

All our scholars receive Free Lunch at HD Hilley. If you send an additional snack, we encourage something healthy, Scholars may bring water as a drink but no sodas. There is not lunch application needed to complete, However, soon, our office will be reaching out to you regarding our Social Economic Form that will need to completed as part of our district requirement with TEA on federal reporting. Please look out for this email or call from our office.

• Friendly reminder that safety is a priority at HD Hilley. Please adhere to the cross walks, follow the school zones, and parking safely. The front parking is still for parents The first day of school only you may walk your scholar to class.
• Thank you for ALWAYS bringing your ID to the front office when checking out your scholar. Please also ensure that our office has all needed documentation on file of any special parental cases regarding custody or other. Our school is not a court system that makes custodial decisions. Our campus follows any count ordered documentation on file.

Parents, thank you again for your amazing patience with our morning arrival and dismissal. A few friendly reminders:

• Please remember that are front parking is for parents and visitors. Thank you for parking in this area.
• Our front drop off and pick up has TWO LANES. Please use them both to move our traffic quicker.
• Please use the new front cross walk when crossing from the parking lot to the school. We want to keep everyone safe.
• Thank you for not getting off your car when in line. We will assist you with opening your doors and taking your scholar to you afterschool.
• Please drive with caution especially when entering and exiting the gate. Our officers are there to support and keep everyone safe.
• Our front office staff is not in the office until 7:30 or after. If you have registration or attendance questions, you will need to wait for Ms. Marlen Gonzalez our PEIMS Clerk to arrive. Our front office clerk Ms. Delgadillo will be there to assist you.
• Parents, please support our morning arrival by dropping off your scholars at the door. Our parents are not allowed in the building once our scholars are inside. Our staff can assist you at the door to bring your child inside.

PLEASE REVIEW UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS. THIS WILL BE INFORCED BY THE END OF THE FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL. PLEASE SEE MS. BEBON OUR COUNSELOR IF YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH UNIFORMS OR SCHOOL SUPPLIES. SHE IS ALWAYS WILLING TO SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES.

Our first Family and Military Connect Night will be on August 17 at Peter Piper Pizza on North Loop. Join us! Our staff, cheer team, and Mighty the Mustang will be there. The class with the most scholars who attend will get a free pizza party. It will be fun! See you there!

Volunteer at HD Hilley

Please consider volunteering at HD Hilley this school year. We are looking for two volunteer parents per classroom. Please fill out the volunteer form in the link below. We would want to have as many moms and dads at our campus to support our school. We will soon be looking for parents interested in coaching sports for HD Hilley afterschool. Our leadership team has created Instructional focus for each grade level per Marking Period (each 9 weeks). Please review HD Hilley's Bus Routes in the link below. Make sure that you let your scholar's teacher know if your scholar will be walking, taking the bus, day care, or picked up. Our 2023-24 Attendance Plan is also provided below. Please review all Attendance Expectations this school year. Communicate all absences with our office and your teacher. More importantly make sure you have a note for each absence. We will be monitoring attendance very closely this school year. IMPORTANT- PINK CARDS ARE FOR PRE-K 4 AND KINDER SCHOLARS ONLY. PARENTS KEEP THEM SO THEY CAN USE THEM AS IDENTIFICATION WHEN THEY PICK UP STUDENTS IN BUS DROP OFF POINTS.
