A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School

Andrea Conner, BHS Principal
Hello Bulldog Families.
This week, we were pleased to have some of our Batavia Alumni in the building to award several scholarships to our seniors. Fifty five twelfth graders came to school dressed professionally and represented BHS with such class. Our guests made several comments about the character of these young people and all I could say was, “Yes! The class of 2023 is full of really nice young people! I can’t wait to see what wonderful things they accomplish in their futures!” The more time you spend with teenagers, the more you realize there truly are great things that our future generations will do.
If you have a student who will be taking their English II End of Course test next week, make sure you help support them through positive encouragement and making sure they shut down their technology and get to bed a little earlier than normal. Sophomores in all English 10 courses and any students scheduled for a retake will be taking this state graduation-required assessment on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29. The remainder of the building will be operating on a two-hour delayed schedule meaning the first period will begin at 9:30 a.m. Unless a teacher has made special arrangements for students to come earlier that morning, they are NOT required to be at school during the normal time. ONLY those students who are taking the test must arrive at the normally scheduled school day. If a student can’t find a ride in for the delayed start, they may report at normal start time. There will be a designated study hall for them.
We will be wrapping up next week with excitement as everyone is ready for a break! These pauses within a school year help students and staff catch their breath and enjoy some much needed “downtime”. Try to help your teen NOT overcommit during this week and encourage them to put down their technology from time-to-time.
Thank you for helping us support your students every day. We appreciate it more than you know!
Have a wonderful weekend!
In service to our Bulldogs.

Make sure to check out our high school musical. BHS Musical
Please consider attending one of the High School performances of The Music Man on March 23-26 at Batavia Elementary School. We have students from all three buildings involved and they are excited to perform for you! We have been working hard for the last two months preparing for these performances. Singing, dancing, learning lines, finding costumes, and working together as a large group are the reasons the students become a part of the musical. The end result is a celebration of what they have been able to create together. We hope you can come! Order your tickets now, or pay at the door. https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/72810
From 3/20 to 3/31 students from the Las Ramblas chapter of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica will be supporting the Pulsera Project during lunch. Hand woven bracelets ($7) from Nicaragua and bags ($15) from Guatemala will be sold supporting these international artisans. All money goes to the Pulsera Project, this is not a SHH fundraiser. Please help us "Color the world"!
