Ability Awareness Day Kick Off Assembly
Today was such a special day for our Concord community, Ability Awareness day! We kicked off the morning with an assembly from Brad Bauer. Brad suffered serious spinal injuries during a spring break trip when he dove into water without realizing a sandbar was underneath. We posted the live video of the assembly on Facebook and here is a link to his graduation story.

4th Grade Break Out Sessions
Geoff Butz
We know Geoff from way back in the day when Truman was an elementary school. He shared his awesome story about living life with Down’s syndrome.
Ryan Brooks
Mr. Tim Brooks (dad) and Ryan Brooks (4th grade) shared about life with cerebral palsy. They shared their story and students learned all about Ryan’s wheelchair and other tools. The students were very engaged in learning about their friend’s abilities.
Kelly Behlmann
Mrs. Behlmann shared about how we all have natural abilities. We are all differently able!
3rd Grade Break Out Sessions
Grebe Family
The Grebe family shared the message of how we are all special in our own way.
Molly Hunter
The students were able to practice with different tools that children work with who receive OT, PT, or speech services.
Kelly Behlmann with DASA
Mrs. Behlmann demonstrated the message that we all have natural abilities and we ALL do things differently.
2nd Grade Break Out Session
Mr. and Mrs. Carrillo spoke to 2nd grade classrooms about their son in an effort to familiarize students with their son Caden. When students have an understanding about differences, we can promote a safe, comfortable place for all students.
