FISD College Week 2021
All Frisco ISD students need a Plan, a Purpose and a Future. Let us help you get there during FISD College Week!
College Week is September 13 to 17th. Click the links below to learn about College Week Events.
US Military Interest
If you are interested in pursuing a future with the United States Military and would like more information about future Opportunities and Scholarships, please reach out to Mrs. Heusinger by Filling out the United States Military Interest Survey no later than September 17th. Your information will not be shared with Recruiters or Military Personnel.
We will also offer the ASVAB October, 25th. The ASVAB is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. The ASVAB was originally designed to predict future academic and occupational success in military occupations. Numerous validation studies indicate the ASVAB assesses academic ability and predicts success in a wide variety of occupations. All high school campuses offer the ASVAB throughout the year.
You can sign up for the ASVAB here until October 20th at 4:30pm.
PSAT for 10th and 11th grade
Frisco ISD will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to all 10th and 11th grade students on October 13, 2021.
All FISD 9th and 12th grade students will have late arrival and report to campus at 12:45pm. There will be no 1st or 2nd period classes on high school campuses or at the CTE Center.
Students will receive an email the week prior to PSAT with their test room assignment.
For additional PSAT test day and transportation information, please see the Frisco ISD website.
GPA OPT OUT Update- Reopening Sept 1-Oct 1
Juniors and Seniors,
The GPA Opt Out tile in the Student Portal will be accessible from September 1- October 1, 2021.
You may choose to opt out of one fine arts or athletic class counting in your GPA this year (as long as the student has participated in that fine art or athletic class the two years prior.) Most students who make this choice have a weighted GPA of 5.0 or above.
For instance, if a junior student has been in orchestra 9th and 10th grades, he/she may opt out of having the GPA points for that class included in the junior year GPA calculation. Once the request has been made and executed, it may not be reversed.
Below are the steps that should be taken if a student decides he/she will take advantage of the opt-out program:
- The student logs into the Student Portal and clicks on the GPA Opt Out Request tile.
- Once the student has filled out the Opt Out Agreement, an email is generated and sent to the parent. Parents will then review the student’s form and approve or deny the agreement.
- An email is then generated and sent to the student’s counselor who will then review and approve/deny the request. Once the counselor has reviewed the request, an email will be sent to the student and parent with an approval or denial.
- Remember, this action cannot be reversed once it has gone through.
Things to keep in mind:
- This is primarily for students with a 5.0 weighted GPA or higher who feel a “regular” class with a maximum of 5.0 GPA points could bring their GPA down.
- Students must have participated in the course the two years prior to the opt-out request.
- Parents and the student’s counselor must approve the Opt Out request.
- The Opt-Out Agreement must be completed by the student and parent by Oct. 1, 2021.
