A Note from our Principal, Mrs. Walk
Hello Trebein Families,
As we move through the winter months and find ourselves inside most of the time, it can feel like there is a little too much "togetherness" time. This can sometimes cause people to feel anxious or irritated. One way to counteract these issues is by finding ways to have fun together as a family. Families who have fun together and who truly make a point of enjoying each other build bonds that will last a lifetime. Laughter, being silly, and having fun with your kids is one simple way of switching the mood when everyone is feeling overly reactive. Of course children need boundaries and structure, but "playful parenting" and positive experiences as a family add more to your child's life and development than you may be aware of:
- Prepares children for relationships
- Encourages connection with others
- Offers positive reinforcement about being in a loving relationship
- Reinforces positive and healthy desires as dopamine is released from the reward system in connection with enjoying family relationships (i.e., fun and play is a reward)
- Reinforces bonds between parent and child
- Improves sibling relationships
- Improves child's receptivity, reduces reactivity
- Helps to shift negative emotions
- Reduces power struggles and encourages cooperation!

So, don't hold back...enjoy your sweet babies and let yourself go a little and have some fun!

Happy 100 Days!
It's almost hard to believe that we've reached our hundredth day of school for this year! That's 100 days of working hard, learning, playing, growing, and having fun together. Thanks for making it a memorable year so far--the best is yet to come!
Here are some photos from Mrs. Siefker's 1st Grade class's 100th Day celebration! They each marked the occasion by bringing in a mystery box filled with 100 items, and they really showed off their creativity. Some students even dressed up as if they were 100 years old!
Wolfpack Represents Trebein in District Character Ed Video
Last month our Trebein Wolfpack worked with the District Character Ed Committee on a Rooted in Our Community video. We're so proud of them!

Everybody Counts at Trebein!
Do you have a loved one with special needs or different-abilities and/or a passion for promoting inclusion? The Everybody Counts program focuses on building understanding, awareness, and acceptance of disabilities and different-abilities in each of our grade levels. Each grade level has a different focus so that by the time a student completes K-5 they will have learned about speech (K), vision (1), hearing (2), mobility (3), cognitive (4) and learning (5) disabilities and different-abilities. We are starting to schedule these sessions and would love some new volunteers to help us deliver these important lessons! Contact TrebeinPresident@gmaill.com if you'd like to help out or if you have any questions!
