Our Whole Lives for Kindergarten-1st Grade, a Parent-Child Program
Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. Grounded in a holistic view of sexuality, Our Whole Lives not only provides facts about anatomy and human development, but also helps participants clarify their values, build interpersonal skills, and understand the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of sexuality.
Kindergarten-1st Grade Parent and Child OWL begins February 3rd. This class is for children AND parents to attend together.
Taught by Sara Lewis
Time: Sundays 2:45-4pm
Mandatory Parent Orientation Sunday January 27th, 1:30-3:30
Suggested donation: $40-50 per family
To reserve a space in the class, email Sara at dre@ouuc.org
Mystery Pals Party
All are invited for a multigenerational Mystery Party on January 27th, 4pm. Join us for games all about mystery identities and other fun. Wear costume if you like.
This will be the launch event for the Mystery Pals pen pal program, which matches a younger mystery pal with an older mystery pal for a month of mailbox exchanges before a Glass Slipper Sunday party to meet your Mystery Pal. It's a fun way to build multigenerational community!
You can attend the party whether or not you'll sign up to be a Pal, and you can sign up to be a Pal without attending the party. Mystery Pals begins February 3rd and goes until the Glass Slipper Sunday on March 10th. To sign up, pick up a form at the DRE's office or email for one at dre@ouuc.org
Let's Tell a Story Together
On March 24th we will have a story skit in the worship service with all ages of actors telling the story How Robin Saved Spring.
Practices will be 9:30-10:30 Feb. 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, March 3rd, 10th, and 17th. It's ok to miss a few practices, but try to make most of them.
If you would like to be part of this little story play in the worship service, contact Sara at dre@ouuc.org
Sunday and Every Day: Taking it Home
Last Sunday was MLK Sunday. Classes learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. and about the Civil Rights Movement.
Discuss it at home:
- What do you most admire about Martin Luther King, Jr.? Who else was involved in the Civil Rights movement that you admire, and why?
- Do you know anyone who was involved in the Civil Rights Movement? Was anyone in your family involved? Do you know their stories?
- What social justice movements are we called to be part of today? What do you do for justice, freedom, and equality?
Spiritual Practice:
This week, intentionally take one action, no matter how small, to seek greater justice in this world. Can't think of anything? You can always just mail a postcard to an elected official, or make a donation to a worthy organization doing the work of justice. Or you can be creative!

General Assembly Information Session
Interested in going to GA when it comes to Spokane in June?
Wondering what that would be like for kids or youth?
Don't know what General Assembly even IS?
Join us for a GA Information Session on Sunday, February 3rd, 12:30-2pm, to hear from folks who have attended past General Assemblies and to get a feel of what it's all about.
Potluck lunch served before, childcare can be arranged if requested in advance.
Planning Ahead: Sunday February 3rd
This Sunday will be Family Chapel, starting in the classroom wing right at 11:00. Please come straight back for class or for chapel instead of starting in the sanctuary. Family Chapel is intended for families to all attend together, but if adults can't or wish to attend the adult worship instead, unaccompanied children are welcome as well.
