Updates from the Week of September 27
Changes to Student Quarantine Model
On Tuesday, the Glendale Unified Board of Education and community received an update on changes to student quarantine based on recent updates from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Important updates include:
- Individuals in the classroom or school group are no longer considered close contacts just because they are in the same room. Only students who sit six feet or closer to the positive case are identified as close contacts.
- Quarantine is not needed for students sitting more than six feet from the positive case, students who are fully vaccinated, or students who had a laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 within the past 90 days.
College and Career Division Update
Dr. Narineh Makijan, coordinator of Glendale Unified's College and Career Division, shared information on how we're preparing students for success in college, career, and life.
Crescenta Valley High School Bleachers and Lights
The Board of Education unanimously voted to certify the Environmental Impact Report (EIR)
for the Crescenta Valley High School Field Improvements Project and allocate $8.56 million in Measure S funds to the project to provide bleachers and lighting for the CVHS track and field to accommodate school-related events and activities.

During the latest Superintendent's Community Update, Glendale Unified employee and parent leaders had an opportunity to share frequently asked questions about COVID-19 vaccination with Dr. Nava Yeganeh, pediatric infectious disease doctor at UCLA, and medical epidemiologist and lead of the vaccine unit for the education branch at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Since August 13, Glendale Unified has administered 33,149 COVID tests.
