Hemlock High School

Many schools around the state of Michigan are still struggling to find a way to provide a minimum amount of face-to-face instruction to their students. Our fantastic staff and students have been exceeding these benchmarks since our 3rd week of school. Our families' level of cooperation and commitment to our return to learn plan has made this possible as we have worked through daily health screeners, sanitizing spaces, social distancing, and other protocols.

Over this last year, we have all learned a lot and have been stretched and grown. Our students have been our focus, and it shows, not only in the classrooms, in extracurricular activities, and in learning growth measurements. However, we know that some students need to catch up academically. With that in mind, we are developing a robust learning program offering for our students and families to help all children achieve at their personal best.

At this time, we do not have any new COVID-19 school-related cases to report. However, we have two students in quarantine this week due to COVID-19 close contact (not school-related). As you look ahead at the calendar for the next month, we only have one remote learning day that remains for the month, which is Friday, March 26th. That day will be asynchronous learning as well to provide everyone flexibility as we head into spring break. Please see the calendar below through Friday, April 23rd.

As mentioned previously, we will start to work on version 3.0 of the district's strategic plan this spring and will be seeking input from our stakeholders. Click here to view our current plan.

PSAT 9, PSAT 10 & SAT will be administered on Tuesday, April 13th. Seniors will be asynchronous at home. Freshman and Sophomores will complete testing around 11:15am, so they will be back on track for 5th hour/lunch. Juniors will be testing until 1:30 and be released once completed.

On April 14th, all juniors will be testing in the gym until 11:30ish and will return for classes once completed.

It is with honor to announce Maximilian Hauffe as one of Hemlock High School's Top Ten Students. Max is the son of Kurt and Lana Hauffe. He plans to attend University of Michigan after graduation to major in computer science engineering. Max is a member of the National Honor Society and a Chief Science Officer Representative. Max is the captain of the varsity tennis team, he completed the 2020 tennis season undefeated in 1st singles position and he’s also a FRC World Championship competitor.

It is with honor to announce Nicholas Frye as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. Nicholas is the son of Julie and Craig Frye. After graduation Nicholas plans to attend Delta College for electrical engineering or trade school. He is on the Academic Honor Roll and is a robotics volunteer.

It is with honor to announce Gavin Briggs as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. He is the son of Dan and Danielle Briggs. After graduation Gavin plans to attend University of Michigan to major in engineering. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Art Club treasurer and he is also an eagle scout. Gavin is involved in soccer, robotics team and won the Engineering Inspiration Award. He is a member of the Snow Carving Team and he won 2nd place in the Zehnder’s Snowfest State Snow Carving Competition in 2020.

It is with honor to announce Hope McGregor as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. She is the daughter of Scott and Jenny McGregor. Hope will be attending Michigan State University and major in human biology to become a physician’s assistant. She is a member of the National Honors Society, student council and was the class treasurer for 2 years. Hope has participated in volleyball for 4 years, tennis for 3 years and softball for 1 year.

We have extra yearbooks from 2018, 2019 and 2020 available for sale in the high school office. The books are $60 each and will be first come, first served until they are gone. It’s the official first day of spring sports, and we’d like to introduce our inaugural 2021 BTL ALLtimate TVC Soccer Team! With spring sports cancelled in 2020 due to COVID concerns, these student-athletes are more than ready to take to the fields this season! Our Lumberjack Spring Fling Bazaar will take place on Saturday, May 8th at Richland Township Park. We are looking for vendors! Is that you, or do you know someone who would like to participate? Comment below or message us for further details/vendor application. Spots are limited.

We will also have a silent auction in the barn and are asking for anyone who is willing to donate items to please reach out. Send us a message to let us know!

All proceeds from this event will go directly towards our Scholarship Fund and Community Fund.
