***Lunch times will be altered and grade levels will be mixed. STAAR testing days present challenges that force us to change our normal lunch times and routines. Bringing a lunch or buying a tray are ideal on these days due to the unpredictability of when your child will eat lunch.***

***Please make sure that your child remains in dress code. No pj's, blankets, or pillows allowed. Students may bring a bottle of water and a snack if need be. Please make sure that snacks aren't loud and crunchy to limit distractions. Please consider the same thing with the packaging of the snack.***

Laura Bush Orchestra students did fantastic at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contest this past Wednesday and Thursday. Our Varsity and Non Varsity group received the highest ratings (Division 1 ratings) at contest. All of these kids have worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of them!!

***EF Travel has made June 2nd a travel date due to late arriving flights. We will still return on June 7th. They are in the final stages of booking flights. It appears that we will have 2 groups on different flights. Please keep an eye out for a parent meeting sometime during the middle of May.

Please login to your EF Travel account and complete action items in the "to do" list. If you are an adult that is traveling, you should have already received an email about a background check. We will have a parent meeting once all travel arrangements have been solidified by EF Travel.

Please help us avoid any unnecessary frustration by ensuring students continue to remain in dress code. As we near summer, historically, the most common things students want to do is change hair color, shave designs in hair/eyebrows, wear shorts that are outside the guidelines, and pierce ears (boys). Refer to LCISD's dress code requirements for particulars if needed. Thanks in advance for your help!

Anyone planning on their child being in athletics for the 2023-2024 school year will need to join our Sports You page. Sports You is a free app we use to communicate important information pertaining to Girls Athletics (Volleyball, Basketball, and Track). We will be posting information about our upcoming summer camps for your child to attend as well as information before the school year begins on forms needed for your child's participation in our athletic program and tryout dates. Tryouts for those not currently in a tennis class will be held after school on Thursday, April 27th. We will start promptly at 4:15. The tryout should be over by 5:15. Parents should be there by 5, just in case we finish early.

Students trying out must have a physical on file. Each individual will be asked to perform serves, forehands, backhands and volleys. Please wear athletic clothes/shoes and bring a racket and water bottle. We do have a couple of extra rackets, but it is ideal for you to have your own.

This tryout is to get you placed into a tennis class for the 23-24 school year. There are only two sections (7th and 8th period) and space is limited, so you must try out to get in.

Those currently enrolled in a tennis class will complete tryout skills during the class period. This does include those in the 6th Grade pre-ath classes.

EVERYONE wanting to be in tennis for the 23-24 school year must complete the google form signup.

A Mandatory Tryout Meeting will be held for athletes on Thursday April 20, 2023, at 7:30 a.m. in Room 309.

Note: The meeting is mandatory. Please communicate in advance if you are out due to illness or other important reasons.

**The expectations for this athletic period are high. You will be required to participate and dress out EVERY day.

We have several signs throughout the building that say "Best is the STANDARD." As discussed on the second day of school, this slogan is applicable to every aspect of life. Whether it's studying, competing, helping others, cleaning, behaving positively, or anything else, we want students to do their absolute BEST. If their mindset is "Best is the STANDARD," great things are going to happen!!

If you are using the skyward feature to submit an absence, please go ahead and select the whole day and our attendance clerk will make corrections where needed. This is a slight change from the beginning of the year.

Some of the businesses directly east of LBMS have asked for help with a few things:

1. Please don't use their lots as a place for student pick-up or drop-off.

2. If your student isn't going to be a paying customer, they do not need to be there for the sake of hanging out or waiting for a ride.

Let's do our part as a Pirate community to help these businesses out.

Parents/Guardians may bring a lunch for their students. Lunches can be dropped off in the front office and students will be allowed to pick-up their food when they are dismissed for lunch.

**Due to security concerns, no outside entity (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Favor, Pizza delivery, Chick-Fil-A, etc.) will be allowed to drop off lunches for students.
