Weekly Good News

Career Connections Academy would like to celebrate two early graduates. Tabitha VanderPloeg and Lily Towne have fulfilled their graduation requirements and are heading to the workforce or enrolling in college. Both students needed flexible schooling environments for remote learning and work study opportunities. Tabitha attended the Allegan Tech Center for Early Childhood Education and represented the CCA program at several events. The staff and students wish them the best in their future endeavors. Nice Job!

Pine Street Student Council participated in the Wayland Christmas parade! The float the students designed and put together won second place and $75!

The High School's LOC /Jr DDA Club had a busy weekend. They participated in the Wayland Christmas Parade and took first place for their float, the theme was a Charlie Brown Christmas. During Snow Fest they had their ribbon cutting ceremony for the Art Alley in downtown Wayland. They held an art contest throughout the district. Everyone did a fabulous job. Congratulations to the following winners:

Tiannah Garcia made it into the SSAA Honors Choir, and will now be rehearsing 4 new titles to prepare for the State Honors Choir Performance at the MMC Conference in Grand Rapids in January.

This required many hours of her time in preparation and memorization. She had to learn 4 total pieces by memory and be able to sing it acapella, along with sight singing in front of a judge this past Saturday, December 2nd. The congratulatory event afterwards is one for the books. Many happy tears were shed. Way to go, Tiannah!

The Wayland Varsity Dance Team had the opportunity to work with Lianna Harris, who choreographed the team's competitive hip-hop routine for the year. The team starts performing on December 15th and competing on January 6th. Good luck on your season!

The winner is Elisa Sieurin from the High School. She is in 10th grade, an exchange student from France.

Honorable mention to Hanora Gavin, also a 10th grade student from the High School.

We had 344 entries this year.

Elisa will have her winning design recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 11th at 6:00 p.m. at the Wayland High School Media Center.

We thank all of the students from the district who submitted a design. Your outstanding art skills made it a VERY difficult decision to make.
