Huskie Highlights
Hemlock & K.C. Ling Elementary
August 28th - September 1st
Welcome Back, Huskies!
Wow! What a great start to the new school year! It feels so great to see students sitting at desks again. We hope you and your children are adjusting well to the routines. Just a reminder, families can drop off students at Hemlock Elementary at 7:25 a.m. using the drive-thru loop. Staff members will be stationed throughout the school directing students to their classrooms. If you are walking your child up, please park in the parking lot rather than the drive-thru.
At K.C. Ling Elementary, drop-off time begins at 7:20 a.m. Students will enter through the main doors and wait by their lockers or go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Please utilize the new loop and have students exit your vehicle on the passenger side along the sidewalk. Please do not let students out of vehicles until that time. If your child needs assistance, please park in the parking lot as indicated in the image below and walk them across using the crosswalk to keep the flow of traffic moving steadily. Children should not walk from the parking lot to the sidewalk unattended.
*You will notice on the graphic below, staff members will now be using the first few rows of the overflow parking lot to create a barrier of vehicles that will assist with safety during afterschool pick-up.
As always, thank you for all your support! We are looking forward to a great start to the school year!

New for this year....
NWEA Testing
Over the course of the next three weeks, all of our students will be participating in NWEA testing. The results of these tests allow us to provide instruction that is tailored to student achievement data. These test results also help us measure your student’s academic growth throughout the school year as they are administered three times each year (Fall, Winter, Spring).
If you have any questions or would like more information about the NWEA tests, please feel free to contact Mrs. Gensch or Mr. Snider.
Food Service
We are thrilled to announce that thanks to the Michigan School Meals Program, EVERY child at Hemlock Public School District, pre-K through 12th grade, will now be able to enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch for FREE!
Not only will this amazing program lighten the load on your wallet (we all know kids can eat their way through a pantry), but it'll save you precious time in the morning.
Now, here's the nitty-gritty: Although the meals are free, we do need all our parents to fill out the new free/reduced lunch application. This data is super important as it helps secure state and federal funding for this fantastic initiative.
Here's to full bellies, vibrant minds, and the #huskietastic school year ahead!

Popcorn Fridays....Coming Soon!
Did you know that almost every Friday PTO sponsors “Popcorn Friday”? They do this to help our teachers raise money for their classrooms. 100% of the profits from each week go back to the teacher. These are a huge success, because of you…our parent volunteers! Please use the link below to plan ahead for your teacher's week.
