News from Georgetown Middle School for October
Principal's Message
Dear GMS Family,
It's hard to believe we're already through the first quarter! We have loved getting to know your students so far this year, and are looking forward to more great things as the year progresses. Please continue to monitor PowerSchool and keep an eye on your child's grades. Problems are easy to fix in October, but much harder to fix in May. You are an important part of the Georgetown Middle School family and the success of your student. Please know we're here for you and your student to help in any way we can. We look forward to continuing to work with you for the remaining three quarters.
Sincerely,
Seth Hillman, principal
Upcoming Events
Red Ribbon Week
Title 1 Fall Festival
Save the date! On October 19th GMS will be holding a Fall Festival. Come by GMS from 4:30-6:30 to pick up your child's report card, schedule parent meetings, play games and engage with GMS faculty and staff. We look forward to seeing you there!
Happening in the Classrooms
Ms. Wharton's ELA class is partnering with Ms. Cox in the media center to run literature circles. Each student was able to watch book trailers to decide which books were the most interesting to them, and then were able to choose based on their individual preferences. With six different book options for each class there was sure to be something for everyone. Ms. Wharton and Ms. Cox are doing an amazing job turning our 6th graders into readers!
Ms. Baldwin's math class practiced their math skills in the form of an Escape Room. Each of Ms. Baldwin's classes rotated through the media center to try their luck at the boxes and get all the locks open. They did a great job and broke out!
