Quarter 1 is Closing Soon!
Hello Everyone! With the temperatures starting to drop and the leaves slowly turning that could only mean one thing...Quarter 1 is coming to end. On Friday, November 4 Quarter 1 is closing. We want to remind everyone of the important built in time every week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) for students to not only make up and complete work but also for to get extra help from their teachers. This time in our schedule is called PAWS (Positive Academic Work Support). Students are encouraged to advocate when they need these extra help and the teacher will in turn sign them up to come see them during PAWS.
Important Reminder - Come Prepared
Teachers often use chromebooks as a resource or a tool for their lessons. Please remind your student to always bring their chromebook to school charged. While we have a few extra chromebooks and chargers, but we often run out of spares. If a student is having issues with their chromebook please bring it to Mrs. Nowosad in the library and she with do an IT ticket. Our IT department always works hard to get the students back their chromebooks as quickly as possible.
Please always feel free to reach out if you need anything!

Suicide Prevention Walk on Thursday, September 29
September was Suicide Prevention Month. At Lyman we hosted an optional walk for students to do during our PAWS period. The hope is this walk would raise awareness about suicide and mental health and also break the stigma around it. The walk was also a time for students and staff to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected their lives and the lives of our loved ones. On the way to the track, students and staff were offered the option to wear “honor beads” - each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who may understand our experience. Fortunately the weather held out on the day of the walk. Many students and staff members participated. Below are some of the photos from the walk. Thank you to Mrs. Escott for organizing this event and thank you to Mrs. Ayer for the photos.
Literary Festival at Eastern Connecticut State University
On Friday, October 14, Mrs. Ayer and Mr. Fabry took 29 students to Eastern Connecticut State University for Eastern's Literary Festival where students get to learn more about creative writing and literature from experts in the field. Congratulations to Morgan Manning (pictured below) for earning an Honorable Mention in Eastern Connecticut State University’s recent creative writing contest. Congratulations also to the following students who read their poetry to an audience of over 350 students from high schools across Connecticut at ECSU’s Literary Festival last Friday: Nora Erismann, Breannah Zimnoch, Aubrey Theriault, Anthony Williams, Nora Rodgers, and Aliyah Lescoe-Quintana. Well done Bulldog writers!
New ASTE Barn - Coming Soon!
You may have heard Lyman is in the process of building a new barn. Above are some photos of the progress so far! Lyman was granted funding from the Carl Perkins Grant in order to build this barn, that will house cows, pigs, goats, sheep, and of course Milo (Lyman's Loveable Donkey)! The barn is suppose to be done by the end of this week and then we will work to add electricity and water with animals to follow. We look forward to this new addition at Lyman. Thank you to Principal Apicelli, Mrs. Wildes, John Jarvis, Mike Hartnett, Superintendent Gonzalez, Jason Nowosad and Kevin French for all your hard work to get this project off the ground!
