Eagle Crest Family Newsletter

Dear Eagle Crest Families,

Starting next week, our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be participating in the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessments. The schedule is listed in the dates section of this newsletter. These state-wide assessments help us measure student growth and achievement and we are excited that our students will have the opportunity to show what they know in this format.

To support students to be successful, we ask that students come in well-rested and ready to rock! Please remember that we have FREE breakfast and lunch available each day for all students, and we have also secured additional snacks to energize students throughout the testing period.

These assessments are just one part of a body of evidence that we use to measure student growth and achievement. We are tracking student progress and adjusting our instruction throughout the year to meet student needs and help each student to be the best that they can be. This statewide assessment gives us more information, but does not paint the whole picture of your child and their learning.

Hello Eagle Crest Families!

Yesterday we kicked off our annual PTO fundraiser with two student-led assemblies! 5th Graders at Eagle Crest have several opportunities to assume special leadership roles. One of those opportunities is the Communications Team led by Mrs. Schwirtz, our Leadership Coordinator. Students work together to design, script, and perform assemblies throughout the school year. They differentiate the content in each assembly for kindergarten through second grade and for third through fifth grade. The team develops cheers, dances, and games to make the assemblies interactive. They also produce all of the related media and promotion needed for the event. This program exemplifies how our leadership focus in preschool through fourth grade prepares students to be role models for the whole school. Check out the images below to see them in action!

Dear Eagle Crest Families,

Our largest fundraiser of the year, Laps for Leadership, officially kicked off at yesterday's student assembly! Our first student prize goal is to reach 50% online registration participation by next Friday, April 15th. Every student will win a prize bag delivered to their classroom when we reach our goal. Follow our easy instructions to register your student today. After registering, you can share your student's fundraising page with family and friends, track classroom progress and follow our 50 state challenge!

Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 in support of funding for school-wide areas of need such as enrichment programs, field trips, technology upgrades, classroom aides and so much more! More information along with a cash/check donation envelope is coming home today in Thursday folders.

Spring Online Book Fair Open Until Sunday 4/10

Spring Usborne Online Book Fair is open for shopping until Sunday, April 10th. Books are shipped directly to your home. Shop at www.bookstakeusplaces.com (select Eagle Crest before shopping). Great books and activities to keep everyone entertained all summer long!

Our VEX IQ Robotics team will be headed to Dallas for the VEX IQ World Championships in one month! We are very excited to go and represent Eagle Crest as one of the few teams representing St. Vrain Valley Schools. If you are able, we would appreciate any support to help make this trip possible. Tax deductible donations can be submitted through RevTrak and will help defray our costs and further support robotics at Eagle Crest!

St. Vrain’s Unframed Student Art Show will be held at the Boulder County Fairgrounds from April 12-17. The event is free and open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. There will be a special artists' night open house celebration on April 14th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. We look forward to celebrating our dedicated art students and teachers who represent all of our schools across the district.

As you know, we will be increasing our preschool capacity and adding another classroom to serve more students and families. We know that early childhood education is a very important support for children and families and we are thrilled to be welcoming more young learners and leaders to our Eagle Crest community!

New this year, we will be offering both half and full day options for preschool. Our half day program will keep the same structure we have had for a number of years. Our full day program will include a time for students to have lunch, take naps and extend learning opportunities through our play-based curriculum and activities.

Schedule:

ECES Half Day Preschool, Monday-Thursday | 8:25am-11:05am or 12:25pm-3:05pm

ECES Full Day Preschool, Monday-Thursday | 8:25am-3:05pm

Our Music, PE, and Art classes are on a 3 day rotation. Each day we have school is either a Red, Gold, or Purple day. These colors are shared on our school lunch menu to help families plan ahead for necessary supplies like sneakers for PE.
