March is a wonderful month in the world of education. With the arrival of spring, the world comes alive with new energy and enthusiasm. It brings a splash of green, sprouting shamrocks and spring break, evoking thoughts of celebration, relaxation and good fortune.
As I reflect on the theme of good fortune, my thoughts turn to the River Trails District 26 community. Serving as the superintendent of this district is a privilege beyond measure and makes me feel incredibly lucky every single day.
Our teachers and staff are committed to creating “life ready” students in our schools and are guided by four key areas: community, curriculum, communication and collaboration. We focus on these through an academic, social, emotional and equitable lens. Over the past few years, we have made tremendous progress in these areas, but recognize that there is still much to be done. Fortunately, a supportive community and dedicated staff give us the tools to continue down this path.
I am filled with a sense of opportunity and excitement for all that we can achieve together. It is clear we share a goal of providing students with the best possible resources for success, and for that, I feel truly lucky.

Prairie Trails Wins Award!
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced that Prairie Trails School is one of two winners of this year's prestigious Illinois Green Ribbon School Award. The annual award recognizes schools and districts for their dedication to sustainability. In addition to the state recognition, Prairie Trails was also nominated for the national Green Ribbon, which will be announced in late April.
2023-2024 Registration
2023-2024 registration is now open for all grades! To register your student(s), please visit rtsd26.org/register. If you have any questions, feel free to contact your school or the district office.

Parent/Guardian Survey
We need your input! If you have not done so already, please participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent and Guardian Survey. Your responses will remain confidential and will not be connected to the identity of you or your child.
Survey results will help us to better understand the conditions at your child’s school and to guide improvement. For the survey to be validated, we need at least 20% of our parents to take the survey.
Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to participate. Thank you for your support!
Music in Our Schools Month
March has been a busy and fun month for our musicians! Euclid, Indian Grove and RTMS all hosted concerts over the past few weeks. As usual, we were blown away with how good they sounded and how much improvement they have made throughout the year. Thank you for the wonderful entertainment!
You can watch videos of each of the performances:

And don't forget...the RTMS musical is Wednesday, March 22! This year students will be performing "Too Cool for Preschool," a show written by our very own Mr. Flowers!
