DISCOVERY CAMP IMPACT
YOUR FINAL GUIDE TO EVERYTHING
DISCOVERY CAMP IMPACT: PARADOX
CAMP FOCAL PASSAGE: Philippians 3:17-21: 17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

CAMP MANUAL (2018 Edition)
We want to provide you with everything there is to know about camp. Here is everything from the Overview, The Rules and Schedule, the way we counsel, our understanding of youth and youth ministry, and a FAQ for leaders and parents.
Discovery Camp Impact Rules
ATTENDANCE: All campers & counselors are responsible for attending all scheduled activities
- All campers and counselors must stay in the designated areas of the campgrounds at all times. Guys and girl cabins are prohibited to the other gender.
ATTITUDE: The spirit of the camp ought to be one of love, grace, and truth. We expect all participants (students and leaders) to abide by the principle of love exemplified in the Gospel.
ATTIRE: Students and counselors are expected to dress appropriately and modestly. Students are expected to dress in a way that promotes respect for everyone and a safe learning environment, and honors the diversity of the learning community. The camp board may determine the student’s personal dress and grooming standards, provided they comply with the general guidelines set forth in the camp manual. Generally, one should be dressed and groomed in a manner that is clean and neat, and does not cause a distraction from learning or disrupt the learning environment. The camp board prohibits pictures, emblems, or writings on clothing that advertise or depict tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or any other prohibited substance, as well as racist, profane, or inappropriate content.
- Swimwear: Guys and girls must wear appropriate and modest swimwear. Speedo types are prohibited for guys, and bikini types are prohibited for ladies.
CAMP DISCIPLINES: For Students & Counselors
We believe that it is the duty of all personnel to ensure the safety and security of each member of the camp. We empower those who witness an infraction of the rules to speak up boldly and confidently to a counselor, pastor, or camp staff immediately. The final arbiters of discipline will be the camp board in conjunction with the appropriate parents and/or pastor.
Using our professional judgment, counselors and staff will consider a variety of factors when administering disciplinary consequences and determining the duration of the consequence, including but not limited to:
The degree of severity and risk of danger • The effect of the conduct on the camp environment • The age and grade level of the student • The student’s disciplinary history • Legal requirements • The frequency of the conduct • The student’s demeanor
For Students:
First Minor Offense: Warning and immediate counseling with counselor
First Major Offense:
Consequence: $100 fine and parents will be notified immediately.
Examples include (but not limited to)
Ignoring first minor offense and/or repeating minor offense
Breaking Curfew
Fighting
Stealing
Breaking Cabin Boundaries
Second Major Offense: $200 fine and parents will be called to take camper home immediately at their own expense. Camper will not be allowed to returned to future camps unless fines are paid.
Repeat offense
Offense taken place on the last night/last day of camp
Any sort of physical, sexual, emotional harassment
Possession or use of illegal substances, products, and/or items (see section 22.b.6)
Sexual Misconduct
For Counselors
First Minor Offense: Warning and immediate notification to camp board
First Major Offense: $200 fine, church notified, and suspension for future counseling opportunities. Will be asked to leave the camp. Because of the responsibility and witness of the counselor, there will only be one offense consequence given.
