Tuesday Notice
September 14, 2021
Dear Siskiyou School Parents,
Our first week of school was wonderful, and we are ever so grateful to have started this second week with clear skies! What immense joy to see the kids back for the full day yesterday; it was our first full school day since March of 2020!!! The children's voices rang across campus during recess. They played wholeheartedly, so happy to be engaged outdoors in the clear, fresh air. The outdoor classrooms are providing opportunities for all children to get mask breaks in the day and are a delightful setting for lessons as well! So much good learning and positive energy all around. Many blessings to be grateful for!
Lora and I are excited to inaugurate a new section to the Tuesday Notice this week: “Waldorf Gems.” We will share Waldorf poems and art, meal blessings and recipes--in short, things we hope you will find inspirational and might want to incorporate into your home life with your children. Nina Gallwey will also occasionally contribute some Waldorf gems in this section of the TN.
Please see below details about Parent Welcome Night coming up this Thursday, from 6:00-8:00pm. We so look forward to seeing you there.
The Two Parts
- We will meet as a whole community from 6:00pm-6:40pm.
- The parent evening (class meeting) section will be from 6:45-8:00pm.
Class teachers will share their links with you for the parent meeting section of the evening.
The office will send the link for the community meeting separately.
How to Split Your Time If Needed
If you have more than one child at the school, please try to have one parent attend one meeting and the other parent the other meeting.
If only one parent can attend, please split your time between your children's classes, and ask another parent in the class to report to you about the meeting or segment you missed.
Please line up childcare so you can attend the evening uninterrupted; the evening is only for parents.
Zoom Etiquette to Follow:
- Please be on time.
- Please find a quiet space to sit so you can attend the meeting like you would in person and so you can be without distractions or interruptions. This will support the group meeting in the best way.
- Please keep your camera on as much as possible so we can see each other.
- Please display your first and last name and the first name of your child. For example: Aurilia McNamara/Avelan. Please stay on mute unless you are talking and sharing with the group.
HAVE THE PACKET IN HAND
Via your child(ren) on Wednesday or Thursday, we will send home a packet with documents we would like you to have in hand for the Thursday meeting. In families with siblings, the oldest will be given the information packet to bring home. You don't need to look through the documents beforehand, but please have the envelope in hand for the meeting itself. The teachers will be using the documents as a reference in the class meeting section of the evening.
From my heart to yours,
Aurilia

Welcome back, everyone! I am very excited to be back to school and seeing all your shining eyes each morning at drop-off. This year is going to be a fun and exciting year as we work towards re-imagining some of our events and developing new ideas along the way. If there is anything that I learned last year, I know how well we can adapt to changes here at the school. I am excited to meet all of our new families and connecting with all of our returning families. At the Siskiyou School, we have such a strong community and I look forward to us all coming together to share in this experience. Below are a few things you can anticipate for the upcoming year:
Events
As with every school year, we are excited to move forward with our Events and Fundraising. Even during COVID times, we have found great ways to come together as a community, to celebrate the festivals we all love, and how to best support the school financially with full hearts. This year is no different. Just yesterday, Aurilia and I met to discuss the ways in which we can bring the community together for events like WinterFaire/Holiday Market, the Auction, parent meet-ups, and much more. I am excited to take this opportunity to bring these events to life in a new way.
Fundraising
This year I will continue to work on Development and Fundraising. Two of our biggest fundraisers for the year will be the Annual Giving campaign (which launches in October) and our Read-A-Thon (which was a HUGE success last year). We will also be selling t-shirts and sweatshirts on our website this year.. stay tuned!
Social Media Networks
I am also continuing with our social media platforms and weekly newsletters. Along with the Tuesday Notice and Friday Updates, we utilize our Website, Instagram, and Facebook as a means for our social networking and ways to send information.
Parent Pillar Program
We are continuing with our Parent Pillar program this year. If you are interested in learning more or becoming a Parent Rep for your class, please email Lora at Lora.Wilde@siskiyouschool.org by Thursday of this week. I will also be reaching out to individual classes to see if there is interest.
I am very excited about this year ahead of us. I am always open to new ideas and hearing from you. Please never hesitate to contact me.
