Step Up To Bullying Assembly
This past Thursday, all of our Bernardo students participated in an assembly called "Step Up To Bullying" where they learned the importance of recognizing bullying behavior and ways that they can respond when experiencing bullying as well how they can be an "Upstander" rather than a bystander if they ever witness bullying.
A huge thank you to our PTA for providing the funding for us to bring this valuable assembly to our students.
Caps For The Cure - Wear A Hat And Give A Buck!
This Thursday, September 28, we invite our students to participate in the "Caps for the Cure" event. We are asking each student to wear a hat to school and for each family to consider donating $1 (dollar bills are preferred over coins) towards this organization that supports work in finding a cure for childhood cancers.
Please read the flyer below for more information. Highlighted in the flyer is one of our former amazing Bernardo students, Joshua Whitten, who passed away from cancer earlier this year. We are honored to host this event in remembrance of Joshua as well as all of those who have been tragically lost to this horrible disease.
Book Fair Success!
Our book fair was a huge success with over $17,000 in book sales! A huge thank you to Jody Coe, our librarian Ms. Jess, Kim Price, Tiffany Bukowski, and all of the other amazing volunteers who helped make this such a fun and memorable event for our students.
Please click on the flyer below for one last chance to purchase books online. Thank you Bernardo families for all of your support and involvement at our school!
Family Reading Night Was Fantastic!
What better way to end a great week than to attend our Family Reading Night this past Friday. Thank you to Keith Black and the team of volunteers for all of their work in making the event so cozy and fun. A special thank you to Mrs. Hanel, Mrs. Borecky, and Mrs. Woods for reading to our students.
Last Week Of The PTA Membership Contest
So far, Mr. Boyce, Mr. Pitkin, and Mrs. Charles' classes are in the lead with the most parents who have joined PTA with several classes close behind. If you haven't yet joined, please be sure to sign up this week!
