BOBCAT NATION
I’m sure you know, instruction and discipline go hand-in-hand. If there’s quality instruction and it’s meaningful, students are more likely to stay on task but if there’s no instruction and/or it’s not meaningful, students will be off-task and disruptive. Let’s avoid this trap. Instruction and/or learning should be from bell-to-bell and with a purpose. Everyone's goal should be to deliver a high quality lesson on a daily basis.
Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance regarding instruction, planning, and/or student engagement. We are more than willing sit and provide you with the necessary coaching that you are seeking. If need be, we can provide you with coverage so that you may go observe your peers or even provide coverage for a peer to go observe you. Trust that we will continue to provide planning days for the remainder of the school year and even reserve some Saturdays. We will do whatever it takes within our means, to ensure that you are being supported.
This week's reflective questions...
- Am I planning effectively? How can I ensure that I am?
- Do my lesson plans reflect current students and current data?
- Do my lesson plans look exactly the same as last year? Or 5 years ago?
In addition, please use the graph below to assist you in preparing lessons. They are simple guidelines for everyone to follow.

On 17 December, cadets from Rio Hondo High School TX-961 JROTC volunteered to support the Wreath's Across America wreath laying at Ashlund Memorial Cemetery in Harlingen, Texas. The event honors all veterans who have been laid to rest at the cemetery by adorning the grave site with a wreath. The local VFW also participated by rendering a 21-gun salute as well as playing Taps. A local fireman played Amazing Grace at the conclusion of the event on bagpipes.
The Rio Hondo High School TX-961 Cadet Color Guard presented the Colors during the 2022 City of Rio Hondo Holiday Parade.
