Principal's Note: Common Questions We Are All Asking
Never have we ever closed a school year like this while also having to plan for a new school year during such uncertain times in the world. Please know district and building administration have been working around the clock with guidance from many reliable sources to make sure our plans moving forward are safe for our staff and families.
Q. When can I pick up my child's belongings that were left at school?
A. District and building administration are currently working on a plan for item/material pick up. The moment we have an approved date for this to occur, we will reach out to all families.
Q. Will we have in person school in the fall?
A. Great question that we wish we knew the answers to! At this point, we are waiting for guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health. Dr. Lubelfeld will be sharing more information at our June 30 Board of Education meeting.
Q. When will school start?
A. We are tentatively planning to start school on August 24, but that date may change based on everything that is going on. Class placements are shared approximately a week before school begins. Classroom teachers will reach out to families to introduce themselves before the start of school.
Q. What will you do differently knowing these children have been at home for so long?
A. In some ways, we will do what we have always done: meet children where they are and help them grow from there. We always prioritize building community and fostering relationships at the beginning of the school year, and we will continue to do so. We also recognize that some students will need additional social-emotional support and time to acclimate to a new environment and routine.
Please reach out if you have any additional questions. As I know I've mentioned before, we MISS seeing you all in person...SO MUCH! I hope you find time to recharge this weekend as we gear up for our last week of school!
