Coffee with the Principal
Please join Principal Brooks Baggett at 8:00am in the Media Center on Friday, September 23 for Coffee with the Principal. This is an opportunity to discuss school improvement and talk about the exciting things that are happening at Northbrook.

Pre-Season Workouts: Must have a doctor's physical exam to participate.

- Girls: Tuesdays & Thursday 4:15-5:30pm starting Thursday, 9/15
- Boys: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 4:30-6pm starting Monday, 9/19

Northbrook Middle School Athletics - Expectations & Required Forms
- Girls - October 17th - 19th 4:15-6:00pm
- Boys - October 11th - 14th 4:30-6:00pm
Eligibility:
7th or 8th grade students in good academic standing.
Required Forms:
All students must complete the Northbrook Middle School Athletic Participation Form. This form can be found on the Northbrook website under "Directory," then "Athletics," then "Required Forms." Be sure to complete EACH of the following parts of the form. Students with incomplete sections will not be able to tryout:
- Student information, parental consent, and insurance information (pg. 1-2)
- Medical form / Physical (pg. 3-4)
- Concussion Awareness Form (pg. 5)
Athletic Fee:
The fee for basketball is $250. This covers maintenance costs for the athletics program; a shooting shirt and pre-game meals during weekday games. All fee must be paid no later than November 1 via MyPaymentsPlus. No refunds will be made.
Practices:
During the season, boys will practice after school Tuesday - Friday 6-7:15pm. Girls will practice after school Monday - Friday 4:15-6pm. Parents are responsible for picking up students at the designated times.
Transportation:
Transportation is provided from Northbrook to the site of the basketball game for weekday games only. Northbrook does not provide a return bus back to Northbrook after the game. All students should be picked up by 8:00pm for all games. Northbrook does not provide transportation for Saturday games. Girls games are from 9:00-10:30am. Boys games are from 10:30am-12:00pm. All student-athletes should be picked up by 12:00pm.

6th & 8th Grade Junior Achievement
Eighth grade students will visit Junior Achievement Finance Park on September 14, 15, or 19 (depending on their Northbrook team assignment). At JA Finance Park students have the rare opportunity to experience their personal financial futures first-hand. Here, 8th grade students participate in an immersive simulation that enables them to develop skills to successfully navigate today’s complex economic environment and discover how decisions today can impact tomorrow.
Parent volunteers are needed for both sixth grade and eighth grade Junior Achievement trips. Please see your child's Social Studies teacher for details on how to sign up to volunteer.

Northbrook Mentor Program
Northbrook Mentor Program is in full effect for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Pomera (School Counselor) is the sponsor for the Girls on F.I.R.E. and Boys on the RISE mentor program. Below you will find a description of what the program is about and the focus topics that are discussed with students. If you are interested in your child participating in the program or may have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Pomera at 678-407-7138.
Middle school can be a difficult time for students. It is the goal of Girls on F.I.R.E. (Females with Integrity, Respect, and Excellence) or GOF program to give assistance to those individuals. GOF is a mentoring program open to female students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th which will focus on 5 topics. They are:

Boys on the Rise
