We are in need of a part time general education associate. The schedule is from 9am-1:30pm. This person works with our youngest learners 1:1, as well as supports our lunch and recess schedules. If you know anyone interested, please share!

VALERIUS NIGHT AT PANERA- TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10th

Parents- give yourself a night off of cooking and dishes! Order your families' meal from Panera on 86th street in Urbandale, and be sure to let them know you are with Valerius Elementary. We had a hugely successful turn out last year, and raised over $300 for our school.

Notes from our Facilitator of Family Outreach (FFO):

We really need donations of snow pants as well as warm gloves for students may not have these items. We will also take gently used or new boots. Please make sure these items are clean and in good shape.Please have your students put them in the bins by the main entrance doors for parent pick up.

We have a family resources website here. Any needs families may have, they can look at this website and find lots of resources. One resource I would like to highlight is food. There are so many opportunities for available food for free here in our district. Please check out the website for more information. Also, Remember, all breakfasts and lunches are free for all students now until December or until funding runs out. COLD WEATHER GUIDELINES

As the temperatures begin to dip, please remember to send appropriate cold weather gear. Below are the guidelines we use across Urbandale for our winter weather requirements:

When temperatures fall below 40 degrees, students are required to wear coats and pants (not shorts) out to recess.
If there is snow, students must-have boots, snow pants, hats, & gloves to play in the snow. If you are in need of winter gear please reach out to your child's teacher. We're happy to connect you with what you need.
When temperatures fall below 10 degrees with windchill, we will have indoor recess.

Please note that temperatures inside the building can vary and it is always helpful for your student to have an extra layer available in their locker in case they are cold.

DROP OFF and PICK UP

Thank you to everyone for your work in learning the new drop off and pick up procedures. They are running smoothly.

Just a reminder that if you arrive after the 8:55 bell, and there is no adult by the north doors, you need to walk your child to the office doors to let them in.
