OLHMS Weekly 12/5/23
Welcome to December!
Tuesday's Top of the Mind Topics:
Did you know that the first D123 Late Start of the Second Trimester is tomorrow?
Tomorrow is a D123 Late Start day! Remember, classes and transportation for Wednesday, December 6th an hour later than a normal day. Classes will begin at 9:30! Report cards for the first Trimester are available on Family Access.
Did you know that during arrival and dismissal all student drop off takes place in the back of the building on Oak Center Drive?
The back of our building is designated for student drop off and pick up during arrival and dismissal. We need the assistance of our families to use this designated area for student drop off and pick up as our buses are experiencing delays due to additional traffic in the front.
Did you know our PTSA is looking for a new President?
If you are interested in supporting our school in a different capacity please reach out to our PTSA! Also, our meetings will now take place at 6:00pm monthly and there is still plenty of time to join! Maybe you do not have the time to donate, but your contributions can still be made through your membership!
Announcements/ Reminders
Mustang Families,
The forecast outside might be unknown, but our scholars continues to demonstrate pride and compassion for our entire school community! We are very excited for our event this weekend in partnership with Feed 6. We anticipate over 150 volunteers packing 30,000 meals for our local community this Saturday!
Temperatures: We have walked right into the winter temperatures returning to school! Please remind our scholars to dress appropriately for the weather! We do not want our scholars missing too many days of school due to change in weather and possible illness!
Circle Drive and 99th Street: During drop off and dismissal, please do not pass cars in the circle drive and do not ask your students to run across 99th street to be picked up. We want to make sure all of our students and families are kept safe. We have had a couple close calls! Please be patient and courteous!
Lost and Found: Items left in the lost and found prior to the Thanksgiving break will be donated! Please make sure to have your scholars look for items they may have lost during the first trimester.
Early Dismissals: In the event that a student needs to be picked up early from school, please communicate with the main office as advisory teachers may not see our scholar based on their daily schedule.
Our Community: Please be respectful of our neighbors around our school during arrival and dismissal. It is also important to remind our scholars about staying off community members property while waiting for a bus or walking home.
Report Card Guidance: Report cards are available in Family Access! Here are a few helpful links!
- Standards Based Family Report Card Guide
- Standards Based Reporting – Expanded Meaning Matrix
- Download Skyward Family Access Rubrics
Working Lunch: We have implemented a plan for scholars to finish work during lunch. Working lunch will be used to support work completion and behavioral reflection. Students assigned to working lunch will be given a bagged lunch if they did not bring one.
