CFF NEWSLETTER: Read-a-Thon Edition

Be sure to read ahead for all the scoop on our Read-a-Thon which launches this morning! But first, we wanted to share our gratitude and a few quick updates....

We hope you enjoyed the CMCS Spooktacular Car parade! Thanks to the amazing CMCS Staff (especially Kathryn & Alice), the Spooktacular Committee led by Elizabeth Jaspan (formerly Parade of Masks), Edith Pensamiento and Fabiola Bermudez for our Dia De Los Muertos Display, Velicia Misher for help with set up AND clean up, all the families that donated items, and the MANY volunteers that helped with planning and set up! We've also got a special Book Fair Update! With your Book Fair purchases we've earned almost $3,000 in new books to restock our library shelves. Thank you for your support of reading and our library. We're happy most of you received your books during Thursday's distribution day. Our final box of books arrived Friday, so some of you are missing books from your orders. We're in the process of sorting them now and will be in touch via email to coordinate pickup. Feel free to contact Book Fair Chairs Miranda Butler - mirandabutler05@gmail.com and Lauren Hardy - lauren@floor84studio.com with any questions.

TIPS:

1. Use a Parent Email address (only 1 account per child please)
2. If you previously registered for Pump It Up (last year), you will log in using the same credentials and add the "Read-a-Thon" event. If you are new to the platform, create a new account!

STEP 1 is essential because it is how students will log their reading minutes, raise funds, and help their team!

Your student will get a bookmark just for registering!

RAISE funds to support CMCS by getting family and friend's to sponsor your child's reading efforts!

Raise MORE by SHARING your child's fundraising page to reach their $100 goal!

Or raise $500 to reach "Superstar" Status!

Parents who share usually collect 3x more pledges!

Post and see what happens!

• Pledges are made online directly by sponsors through your child's secure fundraising page, so there is no collection by parents or CFF.

• Payable to "Community Schools Parent Association"
• Mail to CMCS, Attn: Read-a-thon
• Include your child's name, classroom, teacher name and team name!

READ and log your child's reading minutes on your online parent dashboard!

You can log daily as your child reads or weekly!

To count towards weekly incentives, LOG BY SATURDAY @ 5 PM

There will be weekly prizes for the top reader per grade for each week !

PLUS, an overall prize for the top reader per grade!

PARTICIPATION PASSPORT (Optional):

• For fun- we've also given you a Passport & 4 stamps.
• For every week your child participates, place a stamp in their Passport!

TRACK personal, class, and school progress online!

Team progress will be announced at weekly assembly as our adventure continues!

The more you raise and read, the farther you're team will go!

Top teams, fundraisers and readers may even find themselves with starring roles in our storyline!
