Algonquin Family News
Algonquin Pre-K Families,
Thank you for partnering with us for the first month of school!! I know you have seen growth in your
pre-k scholar from the first day of school!
Coming to school every day matters! Our goal is 95% of our pre-k learners at school EVERY DAY!
It is SO IMPORTANT to bring your little learner to Algonquin as much as possible.
It is more difficult for children to learn to read and to gain other foundational academic skills when they miss many school days. Students chronically absent in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade are much less likely to read at grade level by third grade and are more likely to have poor attendance in later grades.
Creating a routine for school will make your day easier going forward, even in high school!
- Please remember that our doors open at 7:50 for AM drop-off. Breakfast is served in the gym from 7:55- 8:15.
- If you arrive to Algonquin later than 8:15 you MUST sign your child into the office.
- If you need Childcare Services to fit your schedule, please contact our Family Engagement Team for resources.
- If you need to pick up your child before the 2:45 dismissal time - call the office before 2:30 PM that day so we can make sure your child is ready and waiting. Every minute of learning counts. so please try to limit early pickup if possible.
- We are building partnerships between school and home so attendance at school is very important. Our goal is to have 95% of our little scholars here every day. If your little can not be in school please call Ms. Lacy at 708-668-9250 to report an absence.
- If you are visiting you will need to sign in at the front office, present an ID for our safety check and wear a visitor lanyard. Visitors are expected to follow the visitor/parent code of conduct in the 23-24 Parent Student Handbook.
- If you need to visit a classroom or teacher, as a courtesy to the teachers ,we ask that you make arrangements at least 24 hours ahead

Meet our Algonquin Pet - Pinky
Pinky goes home on the weekends with our scholars who help take care of her. Our scholars send us pictures of all the cool things they get to do wtih her! This experience helps our little scholars connect home and school relationships. Don't worry if your child gets to take Pinky home - she runs on batteries!

Family Partnerships
We were so excited to see so many families join us for our first Family Play Group - Families were able to learn about beginning writing skills, tearing paper as a way to get those hand and finger muscles strong for writing. Families also made a delicious apple salad! Hope you can join us for our next Family Events on October 12 in the evening and October 27 for Family Play Group !
