A LOOK AT WHAT IS GOING ON AT MART I.S.D.
March 14, 2022
MHS CERT Featured as School Safety Spotlight Program!
The Mart High School (MHS) Teen Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a highly dedicated team of students who serve the Mart community. The goal of the program is to adequately train students to respond in times of disaster. Students are trained in accordance with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians skills - beyond the required CERT training.
Each year, MHS Teen CERT organizes and leads required campus drills and puts on a year-long “See Something, Say Something” campaign. Spirit days, costume contests, prizes, and assemblies throughout the year involve local police and officials. By creating a positive working relationship with law enforcement, students see the best of those in uniform and learn to stay informed and speak up about safety issues.
MHS Teen CERT conducts annual safety walk-throughs and sends recommendations for changes to the administration. Members teach CPR, first aid, and bleeding control to students and staff. The team attends city functions, such as National Night Out, serving as a medical stop for emergencies and injuries. The life-saving skills these students learn impact their lives, as well as the lives of other students and community members.

State Bound!
Congratulations to Abram Ross and Caiden Arnett on qualifying for the state powerlifting meet!
Read Across America
Elementary teachers and students celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Week the week before spring break. Students wore crazy socks, ate Green Eggs & Ham, and had lots of fun while learning about Dr. Seuss's stories. Mrs. Delacruz's students read to PreK and Kindergarten classes as part of their Read Across America celebration. Having the older students read to the younger ones was a great treat!

COVID-19 Isolation Period & Testing Practices Update
Testing Availability
The district will now be testing using Goodside Health tests. In order to be tested, your child must be registered each time they test at gsh.co/dshs-martisd.
The district does not have the ability to conduct mass testing at this time. Students will only be tested if symptomatic and determined to possibly have COVID-19 by the school nurse, or if they are a household contact wanting to attend school. All others should contact their family doctor for testing.
School COVID-19 tests are rapid tests and have not been found to be as accurate as PCR tests. When in doubt, please contact your family doctor for more thorough testing.
Isolation Periods
If a student tests positive for COVID-19
Stay home and isolate for 10 days.
If you have fever or your symptoms remain severe, continue to stay home until your fever resolves
If a student has a household member test positive for COVID-19, the guardian of that student has 2 options:
Option 1: Quarantine student for 5 days from last exposure.
Classwork will be made available to the student to complete while quarantined. Tutorials may be required when the student returns if there is an academic need.
Option 2: Have student continue to attend school.
Student must be separated from the positive case immediately & rapid test each morning for 5 consecutive days before attending class.
*If day 5 lands on a Saturday or Sunday the student must test on Monday.
Testing will be conducted every morning at the front of the high school from 7:30am-8:00am. Please pull up and stay in your car while testing is conducted.
Athletes that have morning practice will be given special instructions.
