2020 Illinois Parent Survey
The Illinois State Board of Education invites you to participate in a school improvement survey for parents. Please Note: This survey is NOT a component of the 5Essentials Organizing Schools for Improvement Survey. In this survey, you will be asked to provide feedback about your child’s school. Please consider your child’s current experience at school (i.e., 2019-2020 school year). This survey is designed to help school and district leadership improve their understanding of the parent/school relationship.
All responses are completely anonymous. Responses to anonymous surveys cannot be traced back to the respondent. Additionally, your responses will be combined with other parents from your child's school and summarized in a school report to further protect your anonymity. Your participation in this survey is voluntary and you have the right to discontinue participation at any point.
If you have more than one (1) child, you may elect to participate multiple times.
If you have any questions or concerns about the survey content, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874.

Help Wanted
Parents, we could use your help to document this year's Halloween events. We have always recorded the parade and taken photos. This year, it would great to have more photos and short videos from other locations. We will take your photos to make the Video Collage which we will share with the community and play on the large Elementary Hallway TV.
Also, we could use a second camera person to help record the parade, and to help make the Video Collage right after the parade.
I am requesting up to 10 volunteers. You can sign up for this event and check off which responsibility(ies) you would like to do HERE.
Thank you,
Dr. Jason Meltzer
Picture Retakes
Picture retake day is Friday, November 1st. If you would like your child’s picture re-taken, you must return the photo package to the photographer on that day. If your child was absent when pictures were taken in August, their picture will be taken for the yearbook, and you may also order pictures at this time.
New students will have their pictures taken, and ordering information will be sent home with them. Class photos for grades 6, 7 and 8 will also be taken on
November 1st. Please refer any questions to Karen Draths at extension 2027.

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
If you plan on celebrating Halloween on Thursday after school, with a little trick-or-treating, here are a few safety tips to keep in mind:
Don’t forget, there is still school on Friday so try and get to bed as close to normal time, if possible
A responsible adult or supervisor should accompany all younger children
If older kids are traveling as a group, pre-determine the approved path so they know where they are allowed to visit
Children and adults should be reminded to keep their eyes on the sidewalk and roads rather than on their devices. Drivers should be aware of the extra traffic, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
If you have a new driver, remind them to be extra careful or have them avoid driving during the trick or treat window.
For the full list of safety tips from the National Safety Council, click here
Local trick-or-treating hours:
Green Oaks, 4-8 pm
Lake Bluff, 4-7 pm
Libertyville, 4-8 pm
