I hope each of you had a restful and meaningful time with your family during the Fall Break!

As educators we at Eastridge are thankful for all opportunities to impact young lives. Our students are the reason we're here.

As the second quarter approaches, the teachers and I have one vision for our students and we hope it closely matches yours. We want ALL of our students to become all that they can be. We want our students to be successful through good, consistent attendance, perseverance, and working diligently. We want this because these traits will build good habits that will carry them profitably throughout their life. We expect a great deal from our students because they are so very capable of producing great results!

This fall, MSD of Warren Township will be creating a comprehensive strategic plan based on community input that will ensure all students and staff have the conditions necessary to develop and apply Journey of a Graduate (JoG) skills and dispositions. The JoG skills are Critical Thinking, Citizenship, Communication, Collaboration, Content Knowledge, and Resilience. These JoG skills will serve as the foundation of the district strategic plan.

A Town Hall Meetings with Dr. Hanson is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd, 6:00 - 7:30 at Creston Intermediate/ Middle School. The Town Hall is scheduled for our parents, teachers, students, and community members to collaborate in person about the JoG skills and our district strategic plan.

Family Survey

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.

Please note that in the mornings you and your student must be in line and unloaded by 8:03 am at door #13. The door will lock automatically at 8:03 am and you will then need to bring your student to the front office for drop off. Any students dropped off at the front office after 8:05 am are considered tardy and must be signed in by an adult.

Why attendance matters?

Fact: Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10% of the school year.

RESEARCH SHOWS THAT ATTENDANCE IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. Every school day counts in a child's academic life...A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. The effects of lost school days build up one absence at a time on individual students. Please ensure that your child understands the importance of good school attendance and is at school every day. Every day matters! Every day provides important learning opportunities! Set your child up for success by developing these good habits now!

Sailing4Sight, a 501 C 3 Public Charity, will be providing free exams and eyeglasses, if needed, to school age children in Warren Township. Parents may contact one of the event coordinators at the numbers included in this article. A reliable phone number from the parent is part of your child's registration. A team of volunteers, along with Dr. Pruitt and staff, will perform free exams for the children. Register early, this is a first come-first serve and appointments fill up quickly. The event will be hosted at 9948 E. It will soon be that time of the year again when we need to make sure our children have appropriate clothing for recess. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees unless your child has an illness that requires them to stay inside (doctor notes required).

The school clinic needs pants desperately. SIZES 5-12 in both female/ male. The accidents have taken all my supply in shorts/skorts/pants. Please consider donating any clothing that is not being used. Also, if your child has had one or several accidents this year from spills to restroom it might be best to pack an extra set of clothes for your child in their book bag. Let your child and your teacher know about the extra clothes.It would be greatly appreciated and I wouldn't have to call parents at work telling them I don't have pants for their child.. Thank you so much!

There is a continuous Lost & Found table set up in the cafeteria. All clothing items and lunch boxes left outside during recess are sent to the table. Please encourage your child to check the table for their items during lunch. Lost jewelry, glasses and other miscellaneous items will be in the office. Identify them and they are yours again! .

While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. Also, note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.

Our 1st PTA meeting of the school year will be held on August 27th @ Eastridge Elementary School (enter through door 1). PTA meetings begin at 6 pm and end at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Warren Township School District has a new app and website! The purpose of the app and website is to provide regular updates through the live feed, district news, and

district events sections as well as other important district information. The app includes easy access to the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, staff contacts, district documents, bullying and safety reporting form, and much much more.
