Hawk Highlights
I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing, and productive summer with family and friends. I sincerely hope that you were able to rest and recharge and prepare yourself for the upcoming school year. I know that our staff is excited to have each of our students back with us as we pursue a year full of exciting learning and growth opportunities!
All indicators point to an awesome start of the school year. Over the summer, our team of educators has collaborated on how to meet the unique needs of each of our students. We have scheduled students' courses, upgraded technology, enhanced classrooms and career areas, ordered classroom materials and supplies, collaborated with business partners, and provided professional learning for our staff. We are ready to welcome our students back on campus in late August.
To ensure the back-to-school transition is successful, please take time to thoroughly review the information contained in this newsletter. As you read, you will learn about the St. Georges vision, mission, and core values. The vision clearly outlines our ideal, the mission clearly states what we will do for our students, and our core values are our guiding principles and how they will apply this year. Finally, you will become informed about the staggered start of the school year to know your child's first day of school, other updates and more.
Once again, I can assure you that our staff is excited to embark on a meaningful learning journey with our students through school year 2022-2023.

Be inclusive: We will value each individual, their uniqueness, and embrace diversity.
Be supportive (of each other, our students, and our parents): Foster an environment of support by actively choosing to lend a helping hand to students, colleagues, and the community.
Challenge one another (to take risks and grow professionally): Fearlessly innovate and challenge boundaries so that we are providing students and educators with every opportunity to learn and grow.
Hold each other accountable (to high expectations with feedback and follow-through): Work hard with integrity and embrace feedback to ensure each of us is contributing to the mission and striving to reach our vision.
Educational Equity
Hello, Hawk Families!
I hope you are all enjoying the waning days of summer. St. Georges is already anxious to welcome your child back to school - or, if you’re a new family, to see them through their first days of high school.
I am so excited to start the 2022-2023 school year as St. Georges Educational Equity Coordinator. It’s a position that I know has great gravity in our school climate and one that I am honored to fulfill.
St. Georges and the NCCVT School District are committed to providing each and every student with experiences that are individualized and directly related to their future opportunities. Our commitment to equity is based on the belief that every child who walks through our doors deserves to be seen and heard as they develop into their best self.
Honoring this vision, we have developed a comprehensive plan to ensure that every staff member has access to training on a wide variety of subjects that encompass the equity framework. We have established an Educational Equity Collective, consisting of teachers, administrators, and specialists who are dedicated to creating opportunities for staff and student growth. From professional development to book studies, Lunch and Learns, and beyond, our aim is to bring equity to the forefront of every initiative St. Georges takes on.
We are very proud of the work that our student affinity groups have established while developing the framework of NCCVT’s Student Diversity Taskforce, affectionately known as FAM (Forever a Movement), and look forward to continuing the momentum during this school year. The Black Student Union, Pride GenZ, Boys to Men, La Comunidad Latina, Club 3:16, and the Leading Ladies are going strong, thanks to the unwavering dedication of their staff advisors. We encourage each and every student to attend an interest meeting for a club that they feel speaks to them - it’s a wonderful way to meet new people and grow as a Hawk.
I look forward to developing relationships with our Hawk families.
Should you ever have questions or concerns about our equity initiatives, please feel free to contact me via email at jessica.bell@nccvt.k12.de.us or leave me a voicemail at 1-856-436-0229.
It is my honor and privilege to be a part of continuing and strengthening equity initiatives that benefit our school community.
Best,
Jessica Bell
Educational Equity Coordinator, St. Georges Technical High School
First Day of School Schedule
St. Georges will launch the school year with a staggered start to ease students' transition into the school year and provide our staff members increased opportunities to interact and build relationships with our students on their grade's first day of school. The staggered start schedule is below. You will notice that each grade level has its own first day of school. When students arrive at St. Georges in the morning of their first day of school, they can eat breakfast in the cafeteria or go directly to first period. All students should move to their first period class and arrive by 8:10 am. Students on their first day of school will participate in a back to school assembly in the lecture hall and visit each of their classes for an abbreviated period of time. Yes, students do have a lunch period during the staggered start.
News You Can Use
- New Student Orientation: Our orientation for all freshmen and sophomores that are new to St. Georges this school year is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, August 24th from 6-8 pm. Please mark your calendars! This is not a meet-the-teacher night, neither a formal presentation. New Student Orientation is a chance for your student to find their classrooms using their schedule prior to the first day of school. Students can arrive anytime between 6 pm and 7:30 pm in order to ensure that they have enough time to find their classrooms before the evening concludes at 8 pm.
- Student Schedules: Please note that students will not receive their Home Access Center information until school begins. The parent/guardian login information will be used to access student schedules starting August 22nd. Please understand that student schedules will continue to be modified between August 22nd and the student’s first day of school. Instructions for parent/guardian login to Home Access Center will be mailed August 16th.
- Expectations Letter: A letter regarding behavioral and social expectation of students was sent to parents/guardians last week. If you have not had the opportunity to review the letter, please visit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JdoJWOtr5UrwYnARuPyp9jxbuOz0rL7B42GnZTBnnj4/edit?usp=sharing
- Student Breakfast and Lunch: Nutrition Services is very excited that for the 2022-2023 school year, all students are entitled to enjoy a free breakfast. Students on free or reduced lunch status will receive lunch for free. A student may add funds to cafeteria accounts by cash or check with any cashier in the cafeteria. Parents may also add funds to student cafeteria accounts with a credit or debit card using our cafeteria software vendor payment system PAYPAMS. Money goes directly into your student’s account. No more lost money! Create an account and find out more at www.paypams.com.
- Student Activities: Please check our website frequently at https://stgeorges.nccvt.k12.de.us/ Take time to become familiar with the links, such as Student Services, on the main menu. Valuable information for underclassmen and seniors is updated regularly.
- Wellness Center: The St. Georges Wellness Center is open to students for appointments!
Call 302.449.3370 or you can schedule appointments in Schoology. Wellness hours are Monday through Friday 8 am- 3 pm. To be eligible for services, students must register at https://redcap.christianacare.org/surveys/?s=TL3CYWFAX8

- Transportation & Bus Stops: Bus stop information for the 2022-2023 school year will be posted in the Home Access Center (HAC) on Wednesday, August 17th. Students and parents will be able to view their most up-to-date bus information by logging into HAC. A link to HAC can be found on all school websites by clicking the “Quick Links” tab on the main menu. Full complete instructions accessing transportation information on HAC, please visit https://www.canva.com/design/DAFHtxQdA8M/JumaPebqnYWwAxZ5D9eClw/view?utm_content=DAFHtxQdA8M&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton
- Student Drop Off/Pick Up: To increase traffic flow safety on our campus, the student drop off/pick up area in front of our school will utilize two lanes instead of the three lanes that have been formed in recent years. Previously, motorists have curbed their vehicles on the right and left of the fire lane and allowed a through traffic lane in the middle of the curbed vehicles on each side. This year, we will only have two lanes of traffic. Motorist dropping off/picking up students must pull into the right lane for student drop-off and pick up. The left lane is only for through traffic. There will be signage along with an administrator present during student pick-up to support our students and parents with this new traffic flow pattern aimed at increasing student and motorist safety.
- St. Georges Gym New Floor: St. Georges is getting a new gym floor. Although this might impact the first few weeks of some fall sports practices, we are certain that the new gym floor will provide a superior surface for all of our athletes once completed!
- Classroom Supplies: Over the first several days of school, students will get information about lockers and required supplies for their classes. If a student has any questions about any required items, they can reach out to their teacher individually.
- Bell Schedule: On a typical school day, students should arrive at their first period class by 8:05 am. First period starts promptly at 8:10 am with the school day ending at 3:00 pm. Lunch schedule is determined by fifth period teacher. Students will learn their assigned lunch period the first day of school. Please see the complete bell schedule below.
