The WHS Roo baseball program is selling tickets for the 2018 Texas Rangers season. Our selling these tickets is part of an agreement in which our Roo Baseball Team will have the opportunity to play a game in the Rangers Stadium, Globe Life Field on March 12th against Garland Sachse High School.
Please get with a Roo baseball player to get your tickets ordered today or you can use the link below to place your order directly with the WHS Baseball Booster Club. Order deadline is Monday, March 5, 2018.

GRADUATION SEAT AUCTION BACK AGAIN
Beginning March 19th, Project Prom will be auctioning 6 Rows at the Convention Center! 3 rows of 26 seats on each side of the Convention Center. It is important to see which way the students will walk indicated by the blue arrows below. All students will enter on the right side of the stage and exit on the left.
March 19th – 23rd, bids will be accepted from 8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Each bid must be completed by Parent/Guardian with the following information:
- Bidder’s Name
- Senior’s name
- Phone Number
- Bid Amount
- Date
There are 2 options for placing bids:
- A bid box will be located in the WHS Main Office. Parent/Guardian can fill out slip of paper with above listed information and place bid in the box.
- Parent/Guardian can email their bid to Peggy Vance at pvance@weatherfordisd.com with the above listed information.
Each afternoon, the bids will be collected and the highest bid will be posted on the WHS website. Bidding will end promptly at 4 p.m. on the 23rd and the top 6 bidders will be contacted by March 24th. Top bidder will have 1st choice of rows followed by the next highest bid and so on. If payment is not made, next highest bid will be contacted. Payment will be due by March 26, 2018.
AP TESTING - Here's What You Need To Know
The 2017-2018 Bulletin for AP Students and Parents has been sent home with AP students.
You can now begin sharing the URL (http://aptestservice.com/whs) in emails, social media, newsletters, etc. Families can click around and check things out, but the registration form will stay closed until 1/22, when it will open automatically to begin test registration. Regular registration deadline is March 9th.

- AP Test Registration Closes: Friday, March 9th, 2018
- AP Exam Fee $94.00 per exam
- AP Capstone Exam Fee $142.00 per exam
- Late Registration: Monday, March 12th, 2018 to Friday, March 30th, 2018

3 Wrestlers Win At State
Freshman Kaylynn Green (making the trip for the first time) placed top 8 in the state, losing only to the State Champion and the 4th place girl. She has a bright future ahead of her.
Sophomore Camille Fournier making her second appearance at State once again made it to the finals to face down the only girls to beat her throughout the year. Going down early in the match, Camille battled back and ended up pinning her rival to become the 2018 STATE CHAMPION!
Please congratulate these girls.
Also, congratulations to Mason Woodward, 4th Place in State!

Seniors, it's time to start planning for Prom! The theme this year is Gatsby and it will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center on April 28, 2018. The NGC had several students compete at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event on Saturday, February 17th. All of our students received rankings of a level 4 on their works and also received Regional medals. Aidan Ridling had one piece that will move on to the State Competition in April. The Percussion Concert on March 1st was a great showcase of student’s talents from Hall MS, Tison MS, and WHS. We hope you enjoyed the performance.
Another Successful Weekend for WHS Winter Guards
The Weatherford High School Winter Guards had their third competition for the North Texas Color Guard Association this past Saturday (3/3) hosted by Wakeland HS. Both Groups had great performances in there respected classifications. The Junior Varsity group performed their show "Home" using the song made famous by Phillip Phillips, and placed 6th with a 77.6. They go to NTCA Novice Class Championships next Saturday (3/10) at Mansfield HS.
The Varsity team placed 7th in the Regional A classification with their show called "Just Another Rainy Day" that uses three different songs to help the production go from a rain storm to a bright and sunny day. Varsity will compete at Marcus HS for their final show (3/24). Please congratulate these kids on a job well done.
WISD Percussion Concert
The Percussion Ensemble Concert took place last Thursday (3/1) and featured percussion students from Hall MS, Tison MS, and WHS/NGC. These WISD percussionists performed in small ensembles, along with a few students performing their State Qualifying Solos. Student's put on a fantastic show for the audience and we are proud of their extra work to put this performance together.

Lady Roos Soccer Update
The Varsity Lady Roos defeated Keller Fossil Ridge with a score of 2-1. The first goal came from a free kick outside the 25 by Hailey Maloy, freshman Aubree McCue was there to follow for the shot. The second goal came from freshman Michaela Bosco unassisted. This win places the Lady Roos at 4-3 in district play setting them up for the 4th place spot for playoffs.
JV also came away with a 6-0 win. Goals and assists from Sara Strittmatter assisted by Payton Theobideux, Payton Goal Ashtin Hudson assist, Mady Wolfsen unassisted, Payton assisted by Ashtin, and Payton assisted by Emma Groce. JV lady Roos move to 4-1-1 in district play.

Boys Soccer Results
Weatherford Boys Soccer tied Timber Creek 2-2 in regulation and lost 4-3 in pk's. The Roos took a 1-0 lead with a great goal from Juan Villanueva from outside box assisted by Richard Kienle. The Falcons tied it up when they converted on an inadvertent handball in the box. In the second half, the Roos scored on a breakaway goal off a great throw in from Gage Mullins. The Roos battled all the way to the end, but the Falcons converted with 1 second on the click with a crazy goal to tie it up. In Penalty kick the Roos lost 4-3. Tremendous effort by the Roos. The Roos have a bye before Abilene comes to town on Tuesday. Way to go Roos!

Texas Tech Offers Leadership Development Opportunity
Students, here's an opportunity to apply for Camp L.E.A.D., Texas Tech University's leadership education and development program, which takes place July 24-27, 2018. During this program, students will participate in activities ranging from individualized leadership sessions to group challenges and team-building activities. Your students will also have an opportunity to explore Texas Tech through an official campus tour and in-depth sessions with their intended field of study.
Transportation, housing and curriculum materials are provided at no cost to students admitted into the program.
Admission to Camp L.E.A.D. is highly selective. Students should apply and submit documentation regarding their leadership abilities no later than the given deadline. To be considered, students must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Level: must be an incoming high school senior in the Fall of 2018.
- Academic Performance: student's high school counselor must submit a form regarding their academic performance. Students are also asked to self-report their ACT/SAT scores.
- Community Involvement: must be an active member of your community and involved in extracurricular activities.
- Leadership: must have a proven desire to be a leader.
- Interest in Texas Tech: Applicants must be interested in enrolling at Texas Tech University.
- Cost: Transportation, housing and event materials provided at no cost if admitted.

Scholarship Opportunities
Weatherford College has opened its online scholarship application for 2018-2019. Students need to apply to Weatherford College prior to filling out the application. The Weatherford College Foundation gives out more than $240,000 in scholarships every year. Be sure not to miss out on this valuable opportunity. The deadline to apply is March 24, 2018.
If you are planning to take dual credit classes next year, you may be eligible to receive the Texas Bank Scholarship. This scholarship is available for students in grades 9 – 12 that have a financial need and are willing to perform community service hours. You will need to take the TSI test and attach your college-ready scores to the application. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 19. If you have questions about the scholarship, please see your counselor.
