- Announcements will be posted to Facebook and Twitter accounts
- Information will be relayed through local television and radio stations
- A phone call will be delivered to all phone numbers on file for all students
- An email announcement will be delivered to all email addresses on file for all students
- A text message will be sent to parents who opt in (send "Subscribe" to 68453 to receive text messages)
Flexible Learning Plan ("Snow Day")
District 191 has a "Flexible Learning Plan" for when snow or other weather causes schools to be closed. With flexible learning days, learning is interrupted less throughout the school year. Avoiding canceled days also maintains the integrity of the district’s overall academic calendar so students, staff and families can plan ahead.
Under the plan, the first cancellation due to severe weather will remain a typical 'snow day' or school closure. For subsequent cancellations (up to 5 days), flexible learning days will be implemented. Though conducted at home, a flexible learning day is considered a regular school day. Students and teachers are expected to participate in flexible learning day activities.

Is My Child Too Sick For School?
General Guidelines:
· If a child has had a fever of 100 degrees or more, the child should stay home for 24 hours after the temperature returns to normal.
· If a child has vomited or had diarrhea, the child should stay home until 24 hours after the last episode.
· If a child has any rash that may be disease-related or you do not know the cause, check with your family physician before sending the child to school.
· If your child is ill, please call the school to report the absence.
· If your child begins taking an antibiotic, he / she should stay home for a full 24 hours after the antibiotic is started.
· A physician’s order and written parent/guardian permission is needed in order to be able to administer any medication while at school.
If you have any questions regarding your child's illness or the above information, please call your school nurse or your family physician.
