Open House
It sure was great to see so many of you last night at Open House. There were lots of smiles, even in the long lines for pictures. I appreciate having conversations with returning families and new families. If you have any questions that went unanswered last night, don't hesitate to contact your child's teachers or me. Thanks to the PTO for their organization and support and for our custodial staff who are always willing to help out. I especially thank the staff, students, and families for their efforts and attendance last night.

Fountas and Pinnell testing
Today and next Monday, our staff will be testing students using Fountas and Pinnell, a measure of a student's reading level. I met with interested families to tour the building, provide some information, and answer questions. Here is a link to what I shared with families.
Family information Nights
In an effort to provide more information about grade level learning and expectations, we will be holding Family Information Nights the week of September 14th. Here is our schedule.

Wednesday, September 16th- 5th grade at 5:00PM (Little Theater)
Thursday, September 17th- 7th and 8th grade at 6:00PM (Little Theater)
We hope to see you there!

Schedules for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
Please make sure that your child has a printed copy of their schedule for the first day of school on September 1st. We are still working on 5th hour classes for our 7th and 8th graders so you may need to print an updated schedule after next Monday. I'm sorry about the potential inconvenience this may cause.
Principal chats
During Fountas and Pinnell testing on Thursday, August 27th and Monday, August 31st, Mr. Budisch and I held or will be holding chats in the Little Theater. It's an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a tour of the buildings. Mr. Budisch and I will also be having a Principal Chat on September 10th beginning at 3:00 in the Primary School. We hope to see you there!
Barn Bash on Saturday, September 19th
Don't forget the Barn Bash to be held on Saturday, September 19th at Ironwood Golf Course. There will be a 9-hole scramble golf outing preceding the Barn Bash with fun prizes and contests. Please see the information sheets attached to the email.
3 word challenge
As an assignment for staff to start out the year, I had them come up with a 3 word saying that either motivates them as an educator or a message to our students and family. The following link is what they came up with. Enjoy!
