Ron L. James, Motivational Speaker

Motivational speaker, Ron L. James spoke to students from all continuation high schools in October. He spoke at Harvey Auditorium about his life and how the choices he made set him on the path to be a motivational speaker. Our TDS students enjoyed the outing and having the opportunity to learn from Ron L. James.

Suicide Awareness

Suicide Awareness is something we take seriously at TDS. Students took part in discussing Suicide Awareness with Mrs. Tyler. TDS students passed out Suicide Awareness swag at school.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is recognized every year at TDS. Students take part in activities and events, all geared at living life drug free.

Bite Of Reality

TDS teamed with Valley Strong Credit Unit to bring the Bite of Reality event to our campus. Students were given budgets with real life scenarios and during the course of the event they had to work their way through their financial futures. It was a fun event and our students had fun and learned about finances in the process.

Our TDS Veterans'

Tally Valez, Dr. Reed, and Tim Landeros are all proud Veterans of the United States. When the school recognized Veteran's they made sure to include our own proud Veterans! Thank you for your service.

Thanksgiving Pies

Every year, TDS staff buy pies to share with students and staff. Holiday pies are served while we all enjoy lunch in the quad. Staff and students take the time to enjoy a bit of the holidays on campus.

Stay Focused Ministries

Every fall, we invite Stay Focused Ministries to come and speak to our students. SFM shares their lives and journeys with students and staff.

All Continuation Volleyball

Our Annual All Continuation Volleyball games were held at the end of October. Students from continuation schools in the district joined TDS students for a day of volleyball and fun. After the games. Vista Continuation's Culinary students served lunch to students.

Halloween

Students and staff took part in dressing in costumes for Halloween. A costume contest was held during lunch along with games that allowed students to participate with their peers and staff. It was a fun lunch for everyone!

American Indian Heritage Month

November is American Indian Heritage Month in the United States. Leadership students made posters that were put up around campus to recognize this heritage month.

Bakersfield Art Association-November Art Show

In November our students participated in the Bakersfield Art Association Art Show on 19th Street. The following students had work in the show: Chrysanthemum Galaviz, Madison Brawdy, Briseyda Cornejo, Robert Martin, Matthew Sanchez, Alison Waldo, Julian Ramos, and Brooklynne Martinez.
