Message from Principal Sharp
Titan Families,
We hope you enjoyed your long weekend and stayed warm. We appreciate your flexibility with the 2 Hour Delay Schedule, too! This week, we have our elementary feeder pattern Vandegrift High School Boys Basketball game to look forward to. This is a chance for our Future Vipers to come together at the elementary level to cheer on the Vipers and connect as a community. Learn more below, and be sure to read on in our newsletter to stay in the know for what is ahead this semester.
Lastly, please be sure to order your yearbook as soon as possible. If you need support in knowing if you have already done so, feel free to email riverplaceyearbook2024@gmail.com for support.
Take care and lead well,
Dr. Amy Sharp

Feedback on Bus Routes Needed
LISD is seeking feedback from our community as the district begins its annual review of hazardous bus routes within 2 miles of a campus. We want to hear from families about concerns on current walking routes to school. The district will use this input in planning our hazardous routes assessments.
In Leander ISD, families living closer than 2 miles from their assigned school are in the “Not Eligible for Transportation Zone,” or NETZone. Students in the NETZone are only provided bus service if their route to school is rated as hazardous.
Members of the transportation team annually review bus routes to schools of families receiving bus service and living inside the NETZone. Reviewers also assess routes to schools of families in the NETZone with significant changes, such as new construction or changes to road conditions.
Leander ISD uses a matrix to score a route, which determines whether or not the student qualifies for bus service. This rating instrument used was developed by a community advisory committee and approved by the Board of Trustees to study hazardous route conditions.
The form will close Jan. 21, 2024, to allow our Transportation department time to complete route evaluations.
Note: If you have students at different schools, please complete this form for each school.

Playscape Update
Our lower playground will experience a face lift over the next couple of weeks. Because of the passing of the Bond 2023, we are adding a cover to that playground. Please be patient as we continue to hope the weather is on our side with this effort. After the shade structure is in, landscaping will work to ensure grass is laid in areas that were impacted.
