December 2018

We are nearly to our winter break already! This school year sure is going fast but we've been having a great year so far.

As we get into the winter months, I want to encourage you to make sure your child is prepared for the weather each day. When the weather is 20 degrees or higher in both temperature and wind chill, and if the conditions are safe, we go outside for recess. Please make sure your child has hats, gloves and an appropriate coat to wear. We want all of our students to enjoy their play time outside safely. If you need any assistance in getting appropriate clothing please contact the elementary office.

Winter break is coming up from Friday, December 21 through Tuesday, January 1. School resumes on Wednesday, January 2. Have a happy holiday!

Thursday, 12/6 - 4th/5th Grade Musical, 1:15 & 7:00 in auditorium
Monday, 12/10 - Grades 5-8 Music Concert, 7:00 in auditorium
Thursday, 12/20 - Winter Parties, last day of 9 weeks
Friday, 12/21 - Tuesday, 1/1 - Winter break
Wednesday, 1/2 - Students return to school

Parent/Teacher Conferences

During our parent/teacher conferences in November we had a 90.5% attendance rate for all students grades K-5! Thank you for being engaged in the education of your students! It means so much to their future. #exceedexpectations

FOCUS Time Update

We introduced FOCUS time to our students this year. FOCUS stands for Focused Organized Connected Unique Students. We spend 25 minutes each week in homerooms focusing on a different topic each week.

So far we have set and tracked goals, worked on organization skills, focused on generosity by supporting Blue Star Mothers, and had several days talking about bullying. We feel this is having an impact on our students by preparing them to be the most successful students they can be and to instill the characteristics of a Bulldog (brave, unique, loyal, leader, open-minded, generous).

The Gift of Attendance

Every year, school absences spike in the weeks before and after winter break, as families squeeze a few more days of vacation out of the holiday season. Let’s break that cycle. Make sure your child is in school every day. Because the best gift you can give your child is a good education.
