Principal's Corner: Tis the season of Thanks and Gratitude
Hello Hawks Families,
November is here and with it the start of the holiday season! With Thanksgiving around the corner, it's the time of year to emphasize giving thanks and gratitude. I know how challenging and rewarding being a parent of a teenager can be, and want you all to know how much gratitude and thanks I have for each of you and this entire community! They say it takes a village to raise a kid and the College Place village does an outstanding job of supporting our Hawks, their learning, and overall growth.
This month our focus is on Celebrating Differences. We have a few CP Strong schoolwide lessons designed on identifying our own character strengths and acknowledging how each of us has a value we add to the collective.
November also has a few holidays where school is closed. Here are some dates to remember:
--Friday, Nov. 11; Veteran's Day
--Wed, Nov. 23; Half-Day Early Release
--Thursday, Nov. 24 & Friday, Nov. 25; Thanksgiving Holiday Break
We also have some celebrations to acknowledge with our Cross Country Boys Team taking the SCAC League Title, and our Volleyball Team taking the SCAC League Title as well. Both XC and Volleyball are headed to the post-season and we will be rooting loudly for them in our upcoming contests. We host our district volleyball contests the first week in November and have 11 XC athletes headed to state! Our Football team also has made the playoffs for the second consecutive year! For post season updates please follow our CPHS athletics page on Instagram!
Winter sports is also around the corner and it is not too late to sign-up! Below is the link to our winter sports registration page in Final Forms.

CPHS Learning Community Showcase Event!
We invite each of you to come by on Wednesday, December 7th from 4:30-6:00pm to see our hallways and classrooms filled with examples and evidence of student learning! Many of teachers and classes are participating, but some will hold their own events or target the second semester showcase. Ask your student what they are working on in their classes towards this showcase and they should be able to answer you!
Congratulations Five Star Hawks Recipients for the month of October! Our CP Way theme was "Act Purposefully"
Join us at Valle Lindo on Nov. 2nd for Dia de Muertos!
21st Century After School Activities
Academic Lab Success 1.5 Monday-Thursday 3:00-4:30 PM The Academic Lab Success 1.5 continues to grow with an average of 18 students per day that show up voluntarily to improve their grades. Math teacher, Mr. Humbert and Science & STEM teacher Mr. Goeden, provide after school support along with several other tutors to ensure student success. We encourage those students who need to or want to improve their grades to stay after school, snacks and transportation is provided.
eSPORTS: Starting November 14, we will be putting an eSports Team together and compete against other local schools. Training (playing video games) will be required and students must be passing all their classes with a C or better to be able to participate. Students will participate in a safe environment, strategize and develop healthy habits to become successful high school students. Physical team building activities will be part of the program.
Culinary: Starts November 14. Students will learn the basics of cooking, planning and preparing meals on a budget, and shopping. Aquaponics will be part of this program as well. Students will participate in growing vegetables and learn a new system of farming by combining Aquaculture (the growing of fish in a closed environment) and hydroponics (the growing of plants usually in a soil-less environment).
