Teacher Appreciation
At Pine Tree Primary, we appreciate our teachers so much! During appreciation week, teachers received many gift cards, a taco lunch from parents, a taco lunch from our own Mrs. Ramirez, a cup from our administration and so many more goodies. We are thankful for the love we felt from our parents and community.
Primary Winners
Congratulations to our Primary students who sold two or more Big Kahuna kits to earn a
G-Force experience! Our students had a blast!
PARKWAY ELEMENTARY
Coming Together
Last week, the Specials came together to celebrate getting ready for our Annual Art Show. Art, music, physical education and computer spent all week together planning the event.
Our students had an incredible experience decorating the sidewalk with a beautiful chalk creation. Our Parkway Pack had so much fun learning how to make shapes, and work together to make their area beautiful for the annual art show.
Also during that week, Parkway's physical education classes enjoyed four square fitness, trading artist cards and finished off the week playing in the gym including some basketball action. The last day of that week stations which was comprised of hula hoops, basketball shooting drills, rock, paper, scissors hula hoop challenge, and competed against each other in an obstacle course. It was so much fun to be able to come together to enjoy each other to end an amazing school year.
Art Show
Our 9th annual Parkway Art Show was a huge success on May 11. Mrs. Scaggs organized an amazing show. She worked so hard all week to make this a fun experience for our community. We had so much art to see, coloring books were sold, and a silent auction was enjoyed by all.
Kids Heart Challenge
Eight Parkway students who raised $100 dollars benefiting Kids Heart participated in a water gun fight with Coaches Haught and Stafford. It was so much fun to watch.
Congratulations, Pirates, and thank you coaches for all you do!
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Pine Tree Middle School is wrapping up the school year with many fun activities. Last week our fifth grade Model UN teams attended Model UN competition. They had many delegates speak and resolutions announced.
Sixth grade students went on a class field trip and participated in a scavenger hunt around Synergy Park in Kilgore. They gathered various leaves, plants and wildflowers that they learned about in science classes. Teachers Ms. C. Williams and Mr. R. Smith organized a scavenger hunt for them while picnicking at the park.
UIL hosted Minute-to-Win-It games in the lunchroom to celebrate our teams taking first place in the district meet. UIL students came to play and enjoyed nachos, ice cream, and drinks.
Summer Reading at the Middle School is an option. If fifth grade students are returning to Pine Tree Middle School next year, hey can pick up a form in the library to fill out with parents permission to CHECK OUT books for a summer reading activity. If they return with activities, they will be invited to our “Launch the Library Luncheon” in August, to open the library with friends as well as our Page Turners Book Club for next year. This is a great opportunity to read this summer. Students can pick up a flyer for Summer Reading in the library.

HIGH SCHOOL
It is a senior time of season at Pine Tree High School. It is May, STAAR testing is over and graduation is just a few short days away.
Seniors have pretty much finished classwork with the following events taking place for the next two weeks. Senior breakfast, Senior Walk and and the Senior picnic will happen on Friday, May 19. Graduation will be Thursday, May 25 at 8:00 p.m.at Pirate Stadium.
Most seniors are wondering where not only this year went but the last four years, with school terms that have seen COVID, the aftermath of that disease and changes in life that come with every senior who grows from a freshman into a graduate. This graduating class has been through a lot, but they have remained strong and will graduate with one of the largest classes that Pine Tree has seen in a while.
Administration and teachers and students are all ready for summer vacation, but before that happens there is still work to be done. Teachers and administrators are putting in full work days to make sure everything is taken care of before the last diploma is handed out and the last classroom is locked for summer break.
Gung Ho is something that is said quite often around Pine Tree High School, and administrators, teachers, staff and students have all been gung ho the past few months earning successes for Pine Tree High School.
UIL Academics has seen a banner year at Pine Tree and will likely continue to move up the ladder in the next couple of years. Pine Tree has long had a reputation for success in this area, and now they are coming back to full strength after a few years of searching for that winning combination.
Underclassmen are all excited for summer and they are already hearing about plans for the next school year which begins in August. A new senior class will come in during that time and experience all of the things that the 2023 graduates are going through now.
It is an endless but exciting cycle that allows all administrators, teachers, staff and students to experience the finest Pine Tree High School can offer. Plans are already under way for summer band practice, cheer clinics, drill team workshops, BUC events, football practice and strength and conditioning for all athletes. There may be a break but the work will not stop fully at any time between now and the next school year.
Pine Tree High School would like to thank Karen Wall, Roxanne Allen, PTHS counseling staff and the custodians and maintenance staff for keeping everything going during the time students and teachers are off for the summer. These individuals work hard enough as it is during the school year, but they also stay during the summer to get things ready for the next school year so it will run as smoothly as possible.
But, for the next week or so, it is a senior season at Pine Tree High School, and the campus is celebrating over 300 young people who will be receiving diplomas this year. Congratulations to the Class of 2023! You have been through a lot, survived and are now ready to make a positive statement in the world. Good luck, and remember through it all, you are Pirates for Life !
EXCEL
Another school year is coming to an end and ExCEL is proud to acknowledge its graduates that will either be walking at the ExCEL graduation on May 24th or with the main campus on the 25th.
You have read about some of these graduates over the course of the school year, especially since many of them have been nominated as Student of the Month and rightfully so due to their determination and work ethic that has gotten them to this point.
Walking with ExCEL on the 24th will be Ciara Bray, Raen Hammond, Natalie Hunt, Kenya Nino and Javier Vasquez. The ExCEL graduation will be held May 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Pine Tree High School theater. Ezmeriah Gonzalez will sing the National Anthem for the last time at our ceremony as she too will be graduating this year from the main campus. We have appreciated her willing spirit the last 3 years to volunteer her time and singing talent to perform at both our fall and spring ceremonies each year.
Graduates from the ExCEL campus planning to walk with the main campus are Samantha Bradley, Laura Brown, Lola Cobayashi, Jhizah Hayes, Camila Plascencia, Michael Scavone, Taveon Hall, Brode Hodges, Samaria Burnett, Alyssa Gonzalez, Layla Smith, Nyla Williams, Brooklyn Hill and Hailey McGee.
Three students who graduated in the fall have waited to walk this May and they are Katlynn Payne, Angel Tello and Lenore Martin. These students have worked hard to reach graduation and if you have had the opportunity to have a role in getting them to this milestone, we know you celebrate with them. Congratulations, grads!
PACE
Last week, PACE celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. The intention was to show our teachers how grateful we are for their hard work and dedication.
During the entire week, our teachers received various gifts with heartwarming messages of appreciation for them, along with PACE t-shirts. It was great to see the enjoyment on their faces as they received their gifts.
This PTJH student, Jazale Cuevas, is a mentee in the Partners in Prevention Aspire Mentoring Program (AMP). The AMP celebrated a wonderful school year with its End of Year School Bash Olympics. It was held at the Thrive Program Campus.
The Aspire Mentoring Program is purposed to provide student mentees with adult mentors from the local community. AMP works with the local school districts including Pine Tree ISD to make a difference in the lives of our students in a powerful way. The PACE Campus is proud to be a dedicated partner with AMP and applaud the organization for outstanding service to our school and community.
