CSD Top 3
Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, Dec. 1
Dear Canby Families,
Please enjoy this month’s CSD Top 3, those three things we think you’d like to know, plus the lunch menu. Happy reading and Happy Holidays!
Student Spotlight
On Nov. 5-7, Canby High School Leadership attended the Oregon Association of Student Councils Fall Leadership Conference in Seaside. CHS Leadership attended this conference to hear motivational speakers, interact with other schools and students, and share all the great things that are happening at their school. CHS Leadership, as a group, also gave a presentation on weekly CTV segments and sharing information to the school.
At the Conference, OASC member schools had the opportunity to vote for the Executive Council for the next year. Junior Gracelyn Chaffee was one of three finalists for President of the Executive Council, and Junior Patricia Campbell was a candidate for Metro-East Regional Representative.
Both Gracelyn and Patricia each won their races and will serve on the OASC Executive Council for the next year! Congrats Gracie and Pat!
Hour of Code
Canby School District will participate in the “Hour of Code” event during Computer Science Education Week on Dec. 5-11. The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. Learn more at http://HourOfCode.com, and try an hour for yourself.
Inclement Weather
As the temperatures get colder, it’s time to start preparing for winter weather! If the weather is severe enough to cancel school, the first day of inclement weather will be a snow day for all! Any inclement weather day thereafter will be an online learning day. Elementary school families, this means you may see iPads come home with your students if questionable weather is forecasted.
In the event of an online learning day, Canby High School will begin at 8:40 a.m. and all other schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students should watch for Zoom links from their teachers. If students have trouble connecting or need help, they should reach out to their teacher. Canby School District strives to make the most of this valuable educational time, but please know that students will not be penalized if they are unable to connect.
To make sure you’re set to receive information about school delays, or closures, and online learning days, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
