MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS / TRANSPORTATION

  • The Maintenance, Technology, and Child Nutrition Departments will be meeting with WRA to view the plans for LH Rather in mid February as we get closer to 100% of the Plan/Design Phase.
  • Exterior doors are remaining a top priority and these are being check in each building weekly or even daily. The maintenance department knows the importance of these door sweeps and are quick to respond when work orders are placed.
  • Phillip Snyder is our new Transportation Mechanic and he has been busy. He has repaired several vehicles that were not worth the investment to send to an outside mechanic. He was able to get them roadworthy with just the price of the parts.
  • The parking area at the park has been sealed and resurfaced. The striping and handicapped spots will be marked when the weather permits.

TECHNOLOGY

  • Mike Barkley spearheaded a grant for 3-D printers for all campuses. I heard you might see it on the news!
  • All the student Chromebooks are being prepped and updated for the upcoming testing season. Stephanie Avery attended Region 10 Assessment Conference to ensure our technology is ready for state testing.
  • Mike and Daniel are continuing to add devices to our new, updated EDR. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), also referred to as endpoint detection and threat response (EDTR), is an endpoint security solution that continuously monitors end-user devices to detect and respond to cyber threats like ransomware and malware.
  • Several staff members will be attending the TCEA educational technology conference (February 5th-7th. Everyone attending will be required to teach during the BISD LEAD Conference.
  • On January 22nd our website was temporarily under a cyber attack. In response to this, and to mitigate potential future attacks, BISD is now protected by Cloudflare. It is specifically designed to protect against this type of attack. Gabbart (our website company) worked with us and kept us informed.
